I am pretty sure he didn't unless you can find a quote.
He's certainly talked about getting a specifically foreign playmaker as a number 10 after Clev signed.

I am not trawling back but i am sure he said it.
But we have 2 months or so to go to sign a playmaker and i hope it happens

Well, he's stipulated a foreign playmaker and theres quite a few around but depends as always on the money.

It's such a key position i'd be surprised if it was for less than £15mil and the way he was talking it appears he has someone in mind for the role.

We never did properly replace Arteta.
That's one thing I miss about Moyes, he had a serious knack for unearthing gems on the cheap...

especially defender, everyone of them bought below 7m and few seasons later all of them are worth at least 20m each, except for one.

Martinez will never be able to do that.

Fair point on Moyes but a totally different style to martinez.

With Martinez hes giving players games and also signing some whose values will rise:

Garbutt/Galloway/besic/mccarthy/deulofeu should all be worth a lot of money soon.

Sir David signed Garbutt.

And none of their values will rise as sharply as John F Stones and Seamus Coleman.

This play maker which we are supposedly after, he needs to play in CM and not as a number 10. I really don't know if I can cope with another season of Barry and McCarthy in midfield, bloody awful midfield, the type that will have you finish around 10th!!!!
