Lol at the English that expected to have a go at Spain.

The talent just isn't there for England.
It's not just about talent. The Dutch managed to hammer Spain despite having such a poor team. They went all through to the semis, would have gone to the finals if not for bad luck. Look at them now, they are failing because of poor management.

A lot depends on the tactics and the discipline of the team. English players and coaches are just very poor tactically.

Of course it's not just talent, but England don't have very many good players.

Barkley is raw, Sterling is fast, Ox is injured. Smalling and Stones are good defenders. No real fullbacks to speak of currently fit (Clyne is ok I guess).

It's a mediocre side. Playing against a team with better players that has generally played as a unit for 6+ years and has its tactics down pat. Spain didn't get this good overnight.

I don't suggest Roy is the answer, but it's ridiculous to assume England, in their current state, with fans/media that yearn for every failure will beat Spain in Spain.

England need to blow it all up and rebuild with a specific tactical identity in mind with a group of players that can grow together. Problem is England fans and the media would never let that happen without tearing the manager apart.

England will go nowhere and frankly they shouldn't - they don't have the talent to deal with the pressure that they're put under, manager and players alike.

And if that depresses you, English supporters, just remember, it could always be worse.

You could be American.

Phone ins slaughtering Barkley.

Hopefully that means he's not playing for these Richard the Lionheart bellends next week.

It really isn't worth the hassle is it? When you play for England you're either a world beater or a disgrace to the shirt.

Barkley wasn't even that bad. He was a decent swing of the right foot away from becoming the new saviour.

We are inferior to the best teams in Europe. To bridge that gap you need a quality coach and we have the hapless Hodgson.

Given an easy draw we'll get out the group stage but the first time we come across quality opposition we'll be back on our way home.

All 3 are your classic stereotype of an English player and are the reason we do absolutely nothing at this level.
The team that was out today with the addition of Stones, Walcott, Wilshere Shaw and Clyne have hardly played together to be fair. They should be allowed to grow together.
