What time will it be safe to turn on Sky Sports to avoid the hour of Souness singing Candle in the Wind in memory of the late Virgil Van Dijk?

Carragher telling him to "behave" when he was talking as if nobody had ever made contact in a game of football before was a beautiful thing. With a bit of luck the tedious bell won't be on the panel today.

Every team in this league can beat anyone on their day therefore you show every side respect - its that arrogance which saw us finish 12th last season.

Chelsea shipped 3 to these last week - treat every game like a cup final and we'll have a good season - go into games like this thinking its a walk in the park and we'll slowly slide down the table.
But surely it doesn't matter what we as fans think. It's the players' attitudes that will make the difference. You really think the fans' arrogance saw us finish 12th last season. I certainly didn't see much arrogance from the players last season. or for a long time.

When you consider James, Doucoure & Allan are the only real additions to the first 11, that means 8 out last seasons 11 who we were all slating as being lazy, mentally fragile, uninterested etc. are currently top of the table unbeaten.

For me there has been a shift in the mentality however today is a big test of that mentality shift when its a tricky away opponent in which we could open up a 6+ point gap on us and those outside the top 4 spaces.

Big big acid test this and I'll be disappointed if the lads come out playing sloppy, slow football as we did in games against the likes of Villa, Fulham when we had the chance to go top, into 7th etc.

Get right on it from the first whistle.

A win and whenever people go ‘it’s a mad league everybody is beating each other’.

The answer is ‘have you even been watching Everton?’
We win this and beat Newcastle, the kind of games we would normally ‘Everton that’ and this ‘mad league this year thing goes away.
At the moment are great start is just a bit of a wacky fact as one of many. Time to show we’re the real deal!

Take them 3 back out and I’d expect to be back around 10th.
