last 32 cant get the [Poor language removed] till the last 16 so who do we fancy?

me id love benfica but we cant get them either! just for some payback!

so ajax would be nice!


but some beter teams might even drop from the champs league yet to!

and as it is in feb we should have a strong squad to choose from too! HOPFULLY!
 

What way does the draw work now? As we have finished 2nd in our group, we wont be seeded. I think the 12 group winners plus the 4 best 3rd place teams from the champions league will be the seeds. We cant get the [Poor language removed] or benfica, so a couple of possible opponents are hamburg, sporting, basel/roma, galatasaray/panathinaikos, salzburg, shakter, psv, werder bremen. Could also end up with ac milan:D
 
According to Seeding in the Europa League 2009/2010

The draw for the 2nd round takes the following rules into account:

a. Clubs from the same association must not be drawn against each other,
b. The 12 group-winners and the 4 best third-ranked teams in the Champions League group stage are drawn against the 12 group runners-up and the remaining third-ranked teams in the Champions League group stage,
c. The winners and runners-up of the same group cannot be drawn against each other,
d. Group-winners and the 4 best third-ranked in the Champions League group stage play the return leg at home.

Yeah, uh no thanks on that Benfica wish. If we had everyone available for selection, then possibly but I'd rather we get some no name team.

I would think yes to both since the next session starts after the new year.

I would only think that a player who's represented another club in either European competition would be ineligible.

Aye, it looks likely Athletico will end up in the Europa. If they do get in, he will be inelligible for the remainder of the competition. They have 3 points and Porto at home to play. Apoel Nicosia have 2 points and go to Stamford Bridge in the last game.

So we're hoping the Cypriots better Athletico's result then Heitinga can be registered.
 
Just goes to show the clarity of the cup!

My understanding of the rule is that a player may not play in for 2 different teams in the same cup competition. A player may play in both the Europa and Champions League in the same season.

With Johnny, his registration for the Europa (in which he had not played) simply past the deadline date, the registration date for the last 32 re-opening in January.

Atletico being demoted in the Europa shouldn't make a difference. Or their whole team would be ineligable by that same thinking.

I would NOT love to get Benfica, and can't see why anyone would really.
 
I would be happy with any no hopers in the next round then providing we have our lads back Liverpool in the next followed by Benfica(y)
