It's been a free for all for 24 months though, and both sides have been deliberately targeting innocent people with all sorts of weapons.

I just hope whatever happens it's done quickly and methodically. The last few invasions have been a nightmare.

No it hasn't, and that why there has been no intervention. The use of poison gas is banned internationally and is a massive escalation in the numbers of casualties, combatants, women, children, dogs, cats, everything, each time it is used. Any kind of war will always kill people, it's the scale and non discriminatory nature that is the issue........

Bah, it has been, we'll leave it there.

The yanks and israelis are behind it imo.

I find it amazing that, after obama has been stating the chemical weapons would be "crossing the red line" that assad would then casually use them on a civilian area.

The yanks are desperate to get in there and this just happens to be how they will do it.

Well done wimpy miliband for making sure we are not part of it. I still think that cameron will get us in there somehow though.

Straining at the leash looking for the *reason* to attack Iran...and this would give it to them.

I see the UK parliament rejected the motion, tell me.....all the other countries in the world, how did their vote go ????.

It was only the US and UK wasn't it?

It should be a UN issue like Kosovo was MEANT to be.That way there is no assumption that countries are getting involvded for their own political reasons.

What is the point in the UN?

after seeing that horrendous video just now, I think some kind of action needs to be taken. The whole thing is just absolute carnage

I know, when did Miley Cyrus become a little sexy minx.

He's nailed it. (y)

The problem we have, is ideally we want and need assad to win the civil war. The rebels arent worth thinking about.

We should be arming Assad, get it over quickly and move on

Possibly, but it wouldn't be as controversial as the Iraq thing, and Blair survived that... sort of.

And I'd hardly describe him as my man seeing as I was opposed to intervention.

er... yes it would. Blair won a vote through democratic means. Cameron bypassing the british political system would be suicide.

and the little runt knows it, he'll struggle to survive this embarrasment

I was referring to the dodgy dossier/WMD lies. But the vote last night was not about military action, and a vote isn't even required to go to war, the PM can use royal prerogative to declare war.

It was about military action - it was in the actual wording of the motion.
