Smokebombs/Flares

People forget that smokebombs are still a firework, and use a chemical reaction to to burn and let off the smoke. You only have to look at the Bradford City fire to see how dangerous something like that can potentially be.

For those who don't know of this, here's a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7krsXDKrTqI I won't embed the video as its not something everyone would want to watch as its not easy too at times

Bradford was caused by cigarette butts and a wooden stadium, as others have said, smoke bombs are not the same and most stadiums are not wooden anymore. In fact, I can't think of any in the Premier league other than ours

nothing better than lighting a flare at the game and feeling and smelling the sweet blue smoke that emerges clap clap your hands and fist pump when Super Kev scores the winner

They look pretty good on TV or from the opposite stand, not sure how much of a pain it is if it is right next to you. And safety is obviously a concern

Bad publicity for the club this. Right at the top of the bad behaviour for flares (along with Man Utd & Wigan - 5 incidents this season already), stories of little kids being used as mules to smuggle in the flares, and then there's this in the article:

Two-thirds of parents said increased use of pyrotechnics was putting them off bringing their children, a feeling Ruth Maddocks can relate to.
Her eight-year-old son James was in the Everton section at Liverpool last season, but missed the action after being struck by a smoke bomb.
"It was before the game and the players had all just come out on to the pitch," she told BBC Sport.
"Everyone was standing up so my son was standing on the chair. My husband just heard James saying 'ouch!' and on the back of his neck he could see a really big red mark but ash still burning away at his skin.
"My husband flicked it off and then took James to be treated by St John Ambulance, who put some gel on it and a plaster. He came back to the seat but it was such a shake-up for him he couldn't stay."

Evertonians getting hurt by fellow 'Evertonians'? That's terrible, a little kid too.

Just leave the flares & smoke bombs at home lads.

Spot on, its pathetic all this, leave it to kopites its more there level

saying smoke bombs or flares not being in the beautiful game is like having creamy buttery mashed potato without smoked salmon. :(

EDIT: or salmon filet, that doesn't specifically have to be smoked.

Many saying theyre great would be screaming murder if it was their kid injured

Smoke bombs are also hot. Its how the smoke vapourises.
