Smart Transfers?

Player Valuation: £25m
With Moyes having a limited budget in January, would you agree that the following players would make good business sense?

Mohamed Diame.

apparantly Diame has a release clause of £3.5 million surely moyes should use his limited budget to bring the lad in, he's a quality player been west hams diamond in midfield and alongside gibbo in the center with felli infront would be one of the most dominating midfields in the league.

Jolean Lescott.

The out of favour Citeh player had a strong partnership with jagielka and apparantly would welcome a return, would flogging Heitinga for cash and bringing him in make good business sense?

Landon Donavon.

with Super Kev apparantly not close to a return from his hamstring injury would it make sense to bring landon in for a 1-2 month loan? this would allow us to keep both of our flanks dangerous attacking whilst at the same time allowing Kev to return to full fitness slowly with less chance of aggravating it like he did against spurs.

No.

Because:

Diame - hardly fit

Lescott - may not take a pay cut

Donovan - wants to go on holiday or something.

I don't think these are smart transfers.

diame has said he is confident of returning to fitness before the end of december and like mirallas has rarely been injured, for £3.5 mil I highly doubt we could find a player of his quality that is proven in the premier league people say ofoe but he would cost more and is unproven.

The Lescott and Donovan situations are pretty much covered in other threads mate

Diame's an interesting idea. How sure are you about the release clause ?
tbh though, I think any money we have needs to be spent on our defence / keeper. Buying another striker would be nice too, but I doubt we have the money.

You don't think Donovan is a smart transfer because he wants to go on holiday ?

Anyway, back to the OP. All three would be good buys in terms of their ability. If Donovan makes himself available and we don't get him i will fume. Lescott i wouldn't take but footballing wise he'd buy a good buy.

Throw a bid in for Wickham at Sunderland for a couple of million and see if O'Neil takes it. Good feet, good in the air, pace. I bet it's only Bruce and O'Neil who've held him back, injuries notwithstanding. He was almost out on loan a few months back.

Yeah i'd say if we got all 3 in for the right money they'd be smart signings because all 2 are already Prem players, 2 are ex Everton so all 3 should be able to slot in pretty much straight away.

And thats what we need in Jan.

Diame looks pretty good for Westham so far, Lescott wages will be an issue and why would City let him go on loan? and Donavan is knacked.

apparently, the reason why teams like Everton were unwilling to sign Diame on a free this summer is that he has a heart condition where teams have to have a defibrillator on the sidelines at all times. If we wouldn't risk it when he was free, we certainly won't pay for him.

I like this suggestion. I don't think Wickham will be a world beater like some do, but we definitely need another striker.

Probably sky high insurance costs to be fair.

Actually no I don't.

I like Landon. Who doesn't? But we've usually sorted out a move for him by now.

His head doesn't seem right and didnt he say he might go travelling?
