Six wins??

I don't think we'll need 6 wins to be honest as history shows that teams traditionally stumble over the closing months of the season. You only have to look at the season we finished 4th. Our form over the 2nd half was pretty poor but no one else put together any kind of run either and we clung on.

True Bruce, when we finished 4th we had 40 points at the half way mark, Xmas/new year, and only managed 21 points in the second half of the season.
57 or 58 points might be enough, another 15 or 16, how about 4 wins 3 draws 3 defeats, looks easier on paper ! ;)

three points tomorrow would be a good start.

Home
Fulham
Charlton
Portsmouth

Away
Sheff Utd (STRIKE THIS ONE OFF NOW!)
West Ham

Leaving one win from:
Arsenal (H)
Villa (A)
Bolton (A)
United (H)
Chelsea (H)

I think we have to draw at home to United and Arsenal (2pts to make up for Sheff Utd loss), and beat Villa and Bolton away. It's not impossible on either count. We have to be ambitious. We can still make 6th.

With most of our rivals getting beaten yesterday then surely that is a bonus. We can, and will, do it with the fans behind the team, cut the bloody booing out and make the players less nervous:sad: COYB

Well the weekends results didn't go too badly, although Spurs beating West Ham was a big blow. They've got some momentum behind them at the moment and it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't get one of the UEFA places, either in 5th or 6th. Someone earlier asked for the fixtures of those around us. Well they're as follows (in alphabetical order):

Blackburn

Man City (h)
West Ham (h)
Man Utd (a)
Spurs (a)
Watford (h)
Fulham (a)
Charlton (h)
Newcastle (a)

Shef Utd (h)
Wigan (a)
Everton (a)
Arsenal (a)
Reading (h)
Chelsea (a)
West ham (a)
Villa (h)

Newcastle (h)
Villa (a)
Liverpool (h)
Everton (a)
Arsenal (h)

Blackburn (h)
Wigan (a)
Arsenal (h)
Boro (a)

Man City (h)

So looking at those fixtures, Bolton look to have a tough run-in and are really struggling for form so hopefully they'll fade away. Reading have a tough few matches ahead of them, which will hopefully see them drop from the race also. Blackburn have a decent run-in and could be our main threat. Spurs are the form side at the moment though, although they have FA and UEFA Cup games to play as well so hopefully that will distract them.

So really with 6th place already ours I would say Europe is ours for the taking with nine games to go.

Couldn't agree more Bruce, it is in our own hands at present so lets keep it that way. I would hate for us to qualify because of others coiming unstuck, lets do it in style(y) (y) (y)

considering their games, and if spurs weren't so [Poor language removed], I'd expect them to take over us. But they're [Poor language removed], even tho they do have easy games ahead (Man City, Boro, Watford, Wigan)

Spurs have one eye on Europe so they may well rest spme stars against teams trying to avoid relegation. Lets not worry about things lets just go out and win those games........COYB(y)

this really grinds my gears, arsenal go through a slump, then just in time to play us, pick their form up. same with bolton, you watch back to winning ways just before our visit to the reebok.

its enough to make a man swear.

In the previous seasons under Moyes we seem to have perenially garnered 13 points from the last 9 games so lets hope history does not repeat itself as I think just 13 more would not be good enough.

Maybe [Poor language removed] but they are finding ways to win. Rather be lucky than good is starting to run here. Not good for us I'm afraid. Loss of Cahill will be bigger than most people feel. Ossie has to really step up big time. I see us fighting tooth and nail but coming good. If Notlob keep sliding this will be great. Rovers beat them at home we have to do the same.(y)
