Six Nations 2026

In fairness there’s s bit more to them than that, with the No 8, the scrum half, the fly half and the full back all potentially being part of an attacking move when the ball comes out., that’s if the scrum doesn’t collapse 😂

In all seriousness, they’re incredibly dangerous if not taught properly too.
They are far too dangerous. Especially when you have these puddings in them. The risk of broken necks and head injuries should be a major concern.

I understand and respect them but for me it’s pointless. Like you said, if they work, it can be used for such an advantage in an attacking sense. Majority end in penalties.

With my lad being a scrum half, I came to know their purpose inside out and they’re very effective when utilised properly and with precision.

The problem at amateur mens level, is that teams with a load of grocks and weight in the forward pack, use them more than “ lighter “ more mobile teams and the physics of the scrum ( the fact that it’s supported by necks and backs ) always gives the team of grocks the advantage and makes it infinitely more risky for the lighter team.

I was always so glad my lad was never in there, especially when they were playing teams from Lancashire and Cumbria, who seemed to breed monsters 😂

Interesting start to 2nd half.

Never been an egg chaser, but this appears to be a reasonable performance by 'the goys'.

Now back to watching a film.

Cumbrian lads are built very different than the average human race from the UK. Surely that’s where the first giant in human history was born and bred?

Playing against a team from Barrow in union was one of the most physical games of rugby of either code played in. Even the backs were hard to break down. They’ve always had good rugby players up there in either code. They had a league club called Workington warriors, wasn’t very good but was so physical. A lad I played with fractured a bone in his neck trying to tackle a 13 year old around the thighs.

I only joke about union, respect the game. It’s also become a much better on field product than the old kick and clap that used to be served up.

I see Miss Middleton is in the crowd. Not even her gorgeous smile could inspire this lot to beat the Irish. 🙄

I much prefer union to league rugby. They don’t even have proper scrums in league. 🫢

I was a loose forward/flank in my heyday, so I was pretty well acquainted with the rules back then.
Since then, it’s pretty much been a case of understanding the additional rules that have been added afterwards. It’s not theoretical physics, mate.

Obviously I was joking about the rules and what have you. I’m sure if you are a fan of the sport and watch it week in and week out you have a better understanding of it.

Last time I played union was probably in 2002/2003 and always found it boring to play. Having played rugby league from the age of 5 and having the ball more in 5 minutes in a game compared to union where maybe get 5 touches. Was hard to adapt. I was very fortunate to play at twickenham and be selected for Lancashire but always preferred the more action, speed, skill and more involved in league. The physical aspect of league was better too back in the day.

Unions become a much better game since it become professional and the input of league coaches. I just find it far to sloppy at times and not a lot going on.

Lol… No, I did assume you were joking, mate.
