I think the consensus is being distracted by Prendergast‘s ability on the ball for which he has a very high ceiling, potentially a 9/10 player with the ball in hand but a 6 defensively and a maybe 7 place kicker.

Crowley is potentially an 8 in all 3 categories and should, for now be comfortably 1st choice.

6 defensively is being generous and at 23 you can't well learn to take a hit if it's not in you.
Regardless both are regressing in a kicking sense since Sexton began coaching their kicking. And he was never a man for team unity, nor a good kicker. Poor starting out average by his 30's.
