With all due respect, Arshavin is in a different league to the guy from Carlisle, or even Kranjcar.

Part of me wants to see him play, and do well. But if it doesn't pay off, the consequences could be disastrous

Like how? We won't get relegated if we lose to Arsenal.
Coleman's career will not be destroy beyond repair even if we lose. It's just one match in his career and if he had a disastrous game, he's more than capable of picking himself up due to his talent.

All together now

All we are sayin is give him a chance
All we are sayin is give him a chance

and **** the consequences because in all likelihood we'll lose anyway and he must perform better than any of our back four did last time we palyed them or have some of you forgotten

He's inexperienced. You don't think Wenger will exploit that?

We need to set up to get something tomorrow. I dont think using Coleman will do that.

Although, I don't want to see hibbert play either. Neville to right back?

If there's nothing left to lose, throw him on. I just think we need to be solid to get anything.

Good interview on Coleman in the Echo from Motes - also says Jags is at least a month away at the end:

DAVID MOYES believes Seamus Coleman can seize the opportunity presented by Tony Hibbert’s injury set-back.

The Everton boss revealed that news of Hibbert’s damaged hernia was a “hammer blow” to his season, but he is confident young understudy Coleman has got what it takes to step up into the first team.
Hibbert’s versatility has proven vital to the Blues this season, with the right-back playing in central defence in Europe and against Spurs in the Premier League.

Now he is facing a potential four to six weeks out, just as Lucas Neill’s brief spell at Goodison will conclude in a transfer to Galatasaray after today’s home clash with Manchester City.
Moyes said: “Tony has been carrying a knock for a few weeks, and we hoped it might just be a slight groin strain. He has had this hernia repaired before, so that’s a surprise that he’s going to have to get it done again.

“He’s getting operated on today and I suppose he may be looking at anything between four to six weeks out.

“It removes a good option. I don’t really see him playing in central defence much in the league, but if we get really stretched I know he can do it. It’s a bit of a hammer blow to us.”

But Moyes has seen enough of 21-year-old Coleman this season to be confident he will be ready when called upon.

He said: “It might push Seamus and give him a chance. He has been a bit unlucky not to have started a few games and he may well do in games to come.

“I’ve got no fears about playing him. I think we’ve got to remember he’s only just out of Irish football. He’s a little bit older but he’s young in terms of experience.

“A manager always has concerns about how a player can step into it but you get opportunities in football and Seamus has taken his. When he has come in he has one well, so I’ve got no fears about putting him in.

“Ideally we’d have put him out on loan to get the experience, and see how he does but with what we’ve got numbers wise, he’s in the thick of the squad.”

Meanwhile, Moyes revealed that Sylvain Distin could be involved in the game against Roberto Mancini’s City, and Phil Jagielka is not far from re-joining training.

He said: “Sylvain is close and I would say he is the one who has the best chance of being involved against Manchester City at the moment.

“Jags is doing quite well. He’s not training with the team yet and if things go well he may rejoin training in two weeks’ time.

“But he wouldn’t be ready to play between four and six weeks at the earliest.”

Could this mean we shoulkd finally see a bit more Coleman while Hibbert are injured?

I certianly hope so, may be Moyes is planning to play Neville in midfield again?

He may not have come up with a deadly cross today, but the 20 mins he was on the pitch, he has made sure Bellamy won't get any where with the ball.

He was fit, sharp and was willing to put in effort to chase down everything and work for the team, the lad has the right attitude, all the right sign seems to be there, without a doubt he is the future RB for us, now we just have to wait Moyes to start using him more.

We really aren't forced to rush him into the first 11.
Each appearance is helping him to develop, and next season may or may not see him playing a lot more.
What we need to avoid more than anything is a poor performance knocking the stuffing out of him when he's trying to prove himself, and injury.

His time will come soon enough.

I know what you mean, but I am delighted to finally see Moyes give him that last 20 mins or so, in a match it makes all the difference in his development, well we know he won't have a problem coming on when things going our way, he could play against Spurs when we are behind & Carlisle when we are level and not playing well.

One things I like about Arsenal is the way they give opportunities to youngester to play in cup matches, I know there is a difference we don't have that many talented youngester who can form a starting XI and Carling & F.A. Cup mean more to us, but surely we could play 2~3 youngester at a time to give them opportunities.

I would be pretty much satisified if Coleman get 20~30 mins in the end of, one of every two games and it would be nice if he get some starts in Cup matches, like Birmingham next week.
