If Stevie P was leaving, and as LCAB intimated previously Moyes had been looking at a 21 year old replacement... who there's no need to mention by name.
That would be a sell to buy scenario, although it depends on what the accounts look like right now.
Like I say Landon Donovan - is an absolute quality player. I thought that from the first time I watched him warm up at Goodison, purely his feet and touch... but saying Everton will spend a wedge of cash on him at 29 is like buying into the tabloids.
I could see a US$4million with half that paid upfront and the remainder "on appearances" and say we won a trophy etc... to the MLS but not upfront.
Cashflows you see.
See last post.
I'd love to see him back at Goodison. Great player and great attitude. But... "its the economy stupid".
I don't claim to know what moyes is lining up, & of course I'll defer to uncle LCAB. But the concepts and/or seemingly infinite combination of potential scenarios based on unpredictable chronological conditionals w/ various players...need not be mutually exclusive.
So, while option "landon" may in no way be option A in the event Stevie (or anybody else for that matter) were to leave, that need not override or discount healthy discussion as AN OPTION. He's very clearly, at very least, THIS. An option. And not a bad one at that.
On the finances, are you telling me that a potential 4-6 mil net transfer profit for 2 players the same age, of comperable quality (we can debate this, but the 2 are not in different stratospheres quality wise) would be poor financial business?
Mind you, 1 is entering last year of contract (which in theory should severly REDUCE his transfer value) & the other is by far the most popular & marketable in the world's largest consumer market, where the sport is growing at an astounding rate.
Oh, & Landon's wage demands would be much lower. Fact. He's even hinted at such recently.
Sorry Matty. You're one of my fave aces here, but I struggle to see how this "option" is not sound & viable, even from the most bleek financial outlooks.
