Sir Landon Of Donovan

Well you're not. Donovan was on $900k a year last season but his new deal is for $2.2 million a year. He is now the second highest paid in the MLS behind Beckham. Before his new contract he was 5th highest paid in the league behind Beckham, Blanco, Ljungberg, and Angel.

And as I've posted a couple times already the average salary for all players contracted to the MLS in 2009 was $138k per year. That includes all of the big earners and the development players making under $30k a year. If you eliminate the designated players and Donovan and the development players the average for everyone else was $105k. The median salary is $87k. I am right.

You can see it all here: MLS Players Union :: Player Salary Information

Maybe I'm missing the context and not understanding what you're trying to argue (I haven't gone back through the 119 pages of this thread to find out). Whatever it is, the average is the wrong statistic to use for any argument. Even if you eliminated the top earners, the MLS distribution is still heavily skewed and as such the average (mean) will not tell you much about what salaries really look like. The median is a better approach (or some of the more sophisticated 'robust' means).

I'm not arguing anything. I was just correcting numbers posted earlier on salaries and providing a link to the information.

I listed the median as well in my post so people can see both numbers. Note that the median is only 16% less than the average of 'typical' players (no development players and no designated players + Donovan).

Heitinga doesnt get a wage. He gets paid in how much pain he dishes out per week....

Kenwright just has to put out he's on massive wages so he doesnt feel left out, and it makes him look proper ace like.

Heitinga has gauges on his person measure his forcefullness in N/M2 the more force, the more money.

He challenges others to arm-wrestling for extra but after the 1st week they wont be party to it.

Guys-- I listed the MLS median back on Monday.
How is it we're still arguing about it?

The fact is, however you calculate it, the vast majority of MLS players are way underpaid.

me in the Birmingham v Everton thread that got locked said:
I predict that I shall awake and have a Full English with a nice cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea, then after young B.O.G.'s footy, we shall call at Mr. Tootles fine emporium before departing in a southerly direction on the M6 singing "Brum Brum here we come "!!, we shall probably stop of en route to relieve our bladders before finding a nice picnic area to consume our rather large belly busting pasties, there shall be drinks to wash them down of the non alcoholic variety.
On the return journey I shall locate a decent fish and chip establishment or maybe a carvery for our evening fayre.

Somewhere inbetween we shall be exultant on more than one occasion, as we celebrate taking 3 points off big 'eck and letting messrs mcfadden and ferguson know that they are quegs and tossbags.....in that order.

Everton to win and Yankee Doodle Landon to call the MLS and let them know that if he can't be a blue, then they can forget all about him going to South Africa.... from pitchside with the sound of our away allocation singing "You must stay!!...You must stay!!

MLS Players Green Light to Strike; Everton Hoping for Donovan Delay

chants of “U-S-A, U-S-A” became “You Must Stay, You Must Stay” after Donovan marked his entrance with a goal.

they didn't and it's clearly been taken from here, so come on who's the mole ?

Was surprised to see that Donovan was a sub today. Probably still not 100% from recovering from the flu, and since this was possibly/probably the last game he is going to be available for Everton (I don't see how the players and league don't make a deal, considering the fact it will kill the sport here in the US if they do strike), they wanted to work some guys around.

Definitely quiet once he got in, but that was because of the setup (lone striker up front where the midfield wasn't exactly providing a lot for him to do), and not because of any deficiencies.

Would be intersting to know, how many of the new posters from the States stick around. I bet there is some drop off, but there are probably some like me that found an EPL team to support. Just curious. It is easy to tell since their join date is in Dec or after.
