COYBB 1878Well we shall see, I still see a deal being struck though, for the good of North American Football. The worse thing for the MLS right now is to have a lockout season, but I can see the MLS not seeing the bigger picture and a lockout happening.

Agreed. I'm a bit torn on this one. I want Donovan to stay at Everton for sure, but not sure I want it at the expense of offering a great chance of development for up and coming US players.
The MLS is a great launching point for players (see Altidore, Dempsey, Brad Guzan, Stu Holden... to name a few)... popularity is rising every year as well... a lock out would hurt big time (remember when the NHL locked out? they've never quite been the same).

I am right. Positively.
Well you're not. Donovan was on $900k a year last season but his new deal is for $2.2 million a year. He is now the second highest paid in the MLS behind Beckham. Before his new contract he was 5th highest paid in the league behind Beckham, Blanco, Ljungberg, and Angel.
And as I've posted a couple times already the average salary for all players contracted to the MLS in 2009 was $138k per year. That includes all of the big earners and the development players making under $30k a year. If you eliminate the designated players and Donovan and the development players the average for everyone else was $105k. The median salary is $87k. I am right.

Don't you hate the way we talk about players wages without the slightest concern as to how over paid* the buggers are?
