Sir Landon Of Donovan

He has been bad, but clubs will pay for potential. Donovan's career will be trending downward, if he signed on for Everton for 4 years, he'll have little value left (selling-wise) at the end of his deal.

I just don't think you can compare the fees of the two (Altidore and Donovan). There are way too many variables.

If you mean that whether Altidore can play versus how much longer Donovan can be the best US outfield player, true.

Otherwise, there aren't any other variables. Altidore smells far too much like Adu for any club to be willing to pay big dollar for him again.

I think the key here is if Donovan wants to stay he will be able to make the deal happen. As previously states he has just signed a new contract with the MLS and I doubt he would have signed it if it meant it would limit his chances getting a permanent deal overseas.

But that's beside the point. The fee for Altidore has already been paid. It's not changing. It was based on his worth two years ago, not his worth now.

His worth two years ago as an up and coming 19 year old is higher than Donovan's as a guy turning 28, imo. Plus, again, Donovan's contract was expiring, so he had all the leverage when he signed his new 4 year deal.

Donovan signed a new 4 year deal with MLS just before coming to Everton on loan. MLS had two option years left on his old deal so it would have been until half way through the 2011-2012 European season before Donovan could have come on a free had he not signed the deal.

Speculation is that Donovan signed the new deal because it included a fixed buyout clause that he didn't have before. So, even though MLS has him tied up for 4 years instead of 2, MLS has capped their upside and lost their leverage negotiating a transfer fee. They also doubled his salary. This part was reported by Grant Wahl, who wrote "The Beckham Experiment" so he fished all those juicy nuggets out of Landon before. I think it's credible.

As for the price, last year MLS told Bayern that Donovan would cost "at least as much as Altidore" which was $10mm. I think Donovan's fixed buyout price is $10-12mm. He's on a salary of $2.2 mm / year, which could impact the way Everton looks at the transfer price.

How so? That's only £26k / week. I'm assuming that's on the lower end of Everton's wage scale if any of the first teamers even get paid that little. I'm bet Donovan would get a nice raise if Everton decides to purchase him.

You would presume so, which in turn would also motivate the player to angle for the move.

When Jozy was purchased I think the Euro exchange rate was great as compared to the US dollar. If the price for Donovan is 2.5 million pounds I think that Everton would be smart to buy him that is a steal.

I also just got my Everton Shirt today the purple one, does anybody have problems with the name and number on the back, I have never had good luck with the name and numbers that are the fuzzy ones in the past from other shirts I have owned they seem to fall off thought I asked I am afraid to wash it.

Wash jersey in cold water than hang dry :)

All my shirts get washed on the 40 degree wash, the ones that i've tumbled tend to be worse for wear though
