Single malts

Tried a few single malts over the years and, while there are a few I like, I'm always drawn back to the Laphroaig. I know it's not for everyone but I prefer the smoky peaty flavour. Question for the experts - which single malts would you recommend that are similar to Laphroaig?

Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Caol Ila.

Glenmorangie 1971 Culloden btw.

Nice one, will give them a go. Have they all got the smoky / peaty thing going on?

Ardbeg and Lagavulin distilleries are literally next door to Laphroaig and all three are some of the peatiest and smokiest single malts there are. Ardbeg is the smokiest of the three, Lagavulin the richest and aged to 16 years in it's standard bottling, and Laphroaig probably the most saline and medicinal-tasting. Both are a bit pricier than Laphroaig, although when you taste them you'll know why. For similar money though, I'd recommend the cask strength Laphroaig 10 yo, which I think is one of the nicest whiskies I've ever tasted.

Caol Ila is a bit lighter than those three, although still peaty. It's nice. It's used in Johnny Walker among other blends.

Bowmore isn't quite as full on as the first three either, but is still very peaty and richer than Caol Ila.

Can't fathom how anyone can actually enjoy Laphroaig. I tried it after hearing lots of people say they like it but it's like drinking tcp. Absolutely [Poor language removed] vile stuff.

Glenmorangie on the other hand is lovely. As is jura.
