It's not just Whisky, it's everything.
Back when everything had to be sent from the UK, there might've been a case for a cost increase. But those day are long gone...but not the retailers mark up.
Take Wrangler Jeans, made in Vietnam or Cambodia or such. 4000kms to Australia - 8000kms to the US, still twice the US price.
It's the old - because they can
I remember seeing jeans for sale over there in 2012, that were roughly £100, that in the UK sold for £30.. Some things really were over priced. I however earned over there 2.5 times the equivalent salary that Id have got in the UK.. So i guess its swings and roundabouts some times!

Stop being reasonable, you're spoiling my fume. Anyway 70% of my pension comes from the UK, I should get single malt discount vouchers or something.

Whisky is always best, shared...gift from an uncle as he's had a good helping of my stash over the last couple of years so was feeling a little guilty, I guess.

Aw its magic stuff so it is. I first tried the bourbon in a bar about 10 years ago, and had a shot whenever I've seen that on sale but the sourmash was the first bottle I've had on my shelf. But that unblended.... wow... nectar.
I'll grab the rye next I think.

I'd forgotten you've had it before so I was all giddy, thinking you'd gotten it on my recommendation...hah.
