SIlverware - How important is it to you?

I'm pretty set that if we don't win a trophy this coming season then I will change clubs again. Been frustrated with the last 5 years since I decided to start supporting an up and coming team like Everton rather than be a glory hunter like the fans of all the other EPL teams I used to support but I can't have another May without a victory parade to watch.

Dear God, have the primary schools broken up already? "then I will change clubs again" - Off you pop then and be a "glory hunter"!

I guess I'm a bit of an exception with starting to support Everton late and already having another favourite besides, especially it being Bayern Munich, a team that more often wins a trophy than not. I can tell you that it gets a tad boring that you win 95% of the games and you get an equal opponent pretty much as late as the Champions League quarter finals. That's when the really important matches start.
With Everton it's completely different. You might not win something at the end of the day, but I can assure you guys that I had more fun, more adrenaline rush watching the royal blues last season. Every single game is meaningful, that's what it all comes down to at the end, no?
And furthermore, the attitude of the club is fantastic, you can perceive that from the videos and stuff, even though I've never physically been there before. The family friendliness and the openness to accept everyone in our rows is phenomenal.
Whenever we win something, I'm sure we'll all experience complete euphoria, flow and go nuts! With Roberto leading our lines we can do it.

How important is silverware?

Isn't it the most important thing to every football club/fan/player.

Everyone wants to win silverware. So I'd say it's fairly important yeah..

I'd support Everton if we got relegated from the football league though, so wouldn't change my view on Everton, they're boss all the time, would make a bloody good party though.

I said I didn't want to be a glory hunter, and I'm clearly not - supported the Blue Boys for half a decade now. Longer than I ever supported any of the other teams

For me Trophies are what football is all about, however the financial system doesn't support that. It should be that the winners of the FA Cup, Europa League and League cup get bucket loads of cash. But they don't, you only get mega bucks from the Premier league and Champions League, so that is what everyone prioritises.

Which is a shame because in years to come when people walk around our ground on the Goodison Tour they are not going to see lots of Trophies and generally no one remembers where you finish, unless you finish top or get relegated.

I am not saying I wouldn't want to see us in the Champions League, but I would rather we won a Cup and finished in the bottom half than finish 4th.

This is the correct answer! Winning a trophy is paramount. More important than any league position, unless that position happens to be 1st. Clubs are based on their success and trophies = success. We have to win a cup soon, we just have to.

This. Said last season I'd rather us go all out for FA cup then get 4th, in the end we lost both to Arsenal...

The implications of finishing in the bottom half wouldn't be worth it players wanting to leave and being branded a mid table club taking years to remove the label, 4th provides far more commercial oppurtunities, more fans, far more money and the ability to purchase squad depth, this would be more beneficial in the future and allow more chances at cup runs. it's a vicious cycle

Whilst a cup win would be nice I wouldn't swap our past 10 league finishes for any number of fa or league cups. Ask supporters of Wigan, Middlesbrough, Leicester, Birmingham or Blackburn if they would swap places with us.

That's it lad , the 7th place trophy is proper boss. Do you have your photo taken with it?? I bet you smiled and gave it the thumbs up

So thats the choice we've got? WIn stuff or get relegated?

Rubbish. Surely by being a regular top 7 PL side for the past decade the fact that we haven't at least won a Coca Cola Rumbelows Worthington Cup or two is ridiculous?

Exactly, id have taken bottom 12 finishes all ten years for 2 fa cup wins and a league cup win.

All day long.

Without a doubt I agree.

Memories, days out, team photos with a shiny silver pot at the front, great players becomming legends....ask the likes of Tim Cahill if he would have swapped one of our 5th/6th place finishes for a cup win.

So you would be happy for the club to stagnate. The Premier league is where its at and winning the 7th place trophy instead of finishing 12th would pay for your 3 cups.

The club is currently stagnate in my view.

In years to come, when we are close to death in a care home suffering with dementia i don't want to say " Back in the day, i remember Everton finishing. 6th " its a rather crap story and memory.

It would not compare to a FA Cup win at all.
