Should we prepare for life after...

Good piece Andy.

"Would Ross Barkley be better off leaving Everton FC ?"

Yes.

"Would Barkley blossom under Mauricio Pocchetino - Spurs have reputedly made tentative enquiries ?"

Yes

Thanks Dave, and sadly, very very sadly, I think you may be right with the yes comments.

Both will go

I'll be devastated with Barkley than Lukaku. Ronk seemed to have turned Ross into something we all thought he was but recently he's slumped again, god knows why.

Lukaku is interested in himself, and himself only. He'll go and it won't be the end of the world.

We have a manager who is respected in world football and knows what he wants, both will be replaced and we'll be on the up.

We've seen better players than these 2 leave in years gone by. We'll be fine

He tried turning him into a dispirited uninspired drone.

That's why he'll leave.

Ha Ha Ha.

No success in a decade. A DECADE.

Serious question. Is this about the crossroads we've reached with Ross and Rom....or is it just another thread to slate Koeman.
The original post was well written and thought provoking in terms of getting a good debate going....but now it's about slapping Koeman.

Bit like Everton....brilliantly entertaining in spells, totally inconsistent and predictable in others.

Can we have this thread restarted afresh without the Koeman-baiting please?

"Were Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku to leave Everton this coming summer, the monies involved would likely be staggering."

Staggering too would be the fact we'd lost the three jewels in the crown of the club in 12 months...thus running a coach and horses through the 'determined' policy of the owner to keep our best young players.

No matter what you think of one or all of them:

Stones
Barkley
Lukaku

...looks like a club with zip to offer ambitious young players.

....top young players want the top clubs and we're not one of them. They are not interested in a new stadium in 4 seasons time or a rebuilding programme, they want a glamour club now. When our best players want to stay is when we're successful yet you keep making this point.

...it will be a major challenge continuing the progress we've made if both players leave this summer. They are both regulars and they are both important players. Saying that, I'm sure the club are planning for life without them.

It was a boast of the current owner that the best we have will stay.

It'll be an embarrassing admission of failure if the three we had when he arrived that are most coveted by other clubs leave Everton in the space of 12 months.

I'd have to disagree with both there. Koeman has done nothing yet for us or as a manager to suggest we are guaranteed good times in the next couple seasons. Still all up in the air. With regards to Barkley it's also jumping the gun to state equivocally that he has tried to curb his natural talents.

I'm pretty sure both will be here for at least a season more and we will have a better idea.

Nice write up though! @AndyC

Yes.Ross is off to Spurs on his day he's boss but he's inconsistent, a shame his heads been turned.Rom is gone too but we knew that
