The thing is that people like you and me are of the opinion that we're not good enough right now but since we're in no danger of relegation there's no real danger in carrying on with martinez and hoping he turns it around. The sack him people are of the opinion that we are in danger of relegation so we need to make a change to avoid it.

The latter argument has been somewhat weakened by this win. We look out of immediate danger and that's the only argument that demands change now.

Doesn't mean I think we're playing as good as we should be, mind. It's still well below par. But that's a conversation for the end of the season. You only change midseason if you're worried about going down if you don't.
Good summary. I like RM, he seems a decent sort, but any real risk of relegation and he should be gone. If you could guarantee me safety I would be completely fine with him staying.

I would only want him sacked to try and avoid relegation, no other reason. Today seems to have helped that, but it's a long road yet.

Do you mean all that for this season only or in general?

It would be applicable for any season, I guess. RM appears to have a method he wants to stick by. If that method looks like it's sending us down, and he's not adequately prepared to adjust, then he needs to go before it's too late.

I see. Well, if all he can do is have us mid table at best each year, without relegation fears, I think he should go regardless of the type of football he wants to play.

I'd play someone like Kone who can break from deep.

I'd be tempted to drop McGeady and go with

Mirallas Lukaku Kone

Keep it solid in the middle of the pitch and hit them hard on the break.

Mate we need to buy a winger. We need two wingers on the pitch for width.

our wingers have been disappointing this season to the extent we've played a formation at times we don't want to play

I love how there's so many people at the moment that want him out but can't provide a replacement.

Big Dunc or Steve McLaren are two hilarious ones I've heard so far.

RM stays until he becomes mid table mediocrity or we go down, Kenwright likes him.

Exactly. Absolutely pitiful. No wonder they go all coy when pressed on this subject. The alternatives to a manager who got us our record PL total are abysmal.

Anyway, that result yesterday will settle things down. Another win in the next couple of games will just about settle this 'debate' once and for all this season.
