Short memories... Fellaini needs to be in the middle of the park.

im not sure fellaini behind jelavic is the reason jelavic isnt scoring, he had cahill behind him before who offered less...fellaini brings more people into play

I think we need to wait for another player to start scoring before we move Fellaini back, probably either Mirallas when he's fit or Jelavic when he finds form again.

So I was talking to a lad about Fellaini who then had a crack saying Fellaini's best position is behind the striker. I simply posted him this video:

Fellaini/Gibson is ideal for the middle. That dozen or so goals that Jelavic scored last season... it was when Fellaini was either out of the side or in the middle of the park. Putting Fellaini in the middle of the park avoids the option of hoofball and means Jelavic can be serviced.

We lump balls all game to a goal poacher and a defensive midfielder and then some people wonder why we are dropping points. Drop Osman or Mirallas in behind Jelavic and things will change.

Whose sick of Fellaini behind the striker?

Not sick exactly but is Fellaini becoming the new Cahill, aka Moyes latest fixation.
Never mind Tim went gash for a year
Now he is gone, Fellaini filled in and is doing OK. Moyes now has the has the same none problem. Fellaini and Cahill are tactical blackholes sucking in the ball by virtue of just being there.

Miralles for me, he runs at defenders and that terrifies them

Nothing went for us against Sunderland because Fellaini had been cleverly man marked. Moves back to CM gets a bit of space, our play is a lot less predictable.. What happens, Fellaini scores and assists.

I think the position we play Fellaini should be different depending on who we are playing. When we played Utd, for example. He played behind the striker, was our focal point and was the best player on the pitch. He gives us something a bit different, in that he can play with it on the deck but if we need a quick outlet ball from defense, he often turns hoofs upfield into useful forward passes.

But, when we play someone who are more likely to sit back and defend and try and catch us on the break, Fellaini should be pushed deeper and have someone more creative and pacey behind the striker, i.e. Mirallas.

Just my thinking like.

Yeah but if fellaini moves back like harl henry did for wolves after his start to last season i'm afraid we might slide further and further down the table its a known fact that moyes originally earmarked felli for a role at centre back but we all know he likes to play players out of position time and time again its a bit of a joke tbh hes made his bread so i guess hes just gotta lie in it now i guess you live you learn could probably do with cahill back in jan need a bit more of a goal threat from corners plus ther lad knows the club!!

Jelavic has 5 goals with Felli behind him, that's not too shabby for a playe not in form, and that Felli has 8 already suggests that when Jelavic really starts firing and hitting the chances he does get, we will be devestating. Bearing in mind we have had seasons where 9 was our highest scorer.
I don't understand people asking for him to drop back, we're making more chances and playing more offensively than we have in decades but because of a few draws instead of wins we need to move our lynchpin back to his old position that people slated him for?
Short memories you say?..could be right but its not mine.
I remember things like
Doesn't track his runner
Lets the game go past him
Positionally poor
Gives up on the tackle
Rarely gets in a good challenge.

I defended him then because he was still a great DM but he is even better futher forward. The only reason to drop him back would be if it helps to keep him because he's in his favourite position.

with fellaini they tend to hoof it to him. which is fine; he has excellent control with his chest and can deal with it. But when the pass goes a bit to errant then you have jelavic trying to do what fellaini does and he is not anywhere near as good with it. You pass the ball into space for him to run onto, he will find a way to score or at least create somethign with. currently its nowhere near his feet when the ball is near him.

what they really need to do is mix it up, they currently dont do that at all. it seems like straight to fellaini is option a and option b.

So the solution to our recent run of not winning games is to move our most in-form player and top scorer to a different position... eh?

Also, haven't we had the most shots on target in the league? It's not the fact Fellaini is playing up top that has caused us to miss chances. Our defence is the area that needs to be looked at, 1 clean sheet since 1st day of the season.

Can see why the question would be asked but Fellaini is playing the best he`s ever played and the team as a whole is doing fine. Were only 3 points off 3rd remember. Admittedly we could do with a few more wins instead of draws but i don`t think we should change at the moment.Jelavic is still getting chances, he`s just missing them. he`ll get his form back soon I think.
