Remember when we let Ruddy go and he had a half good season? Big mistake that, can't believe management let that happen, look where he is now...

I think the fact he wasn't a "Martinez Style" defender is a good thing, considering how many goals Wigan used to ship

...I reckon there's a bottom line in respect of Duffy and that is that RM didn't think he was good enough. Last I saw he isn't getting a game for Blackburn. Manager's judge which youngsters are capable of coming through and blood them when the timing is right. They don't give the ones they don't think are up to it a run of games to confirm their opinion, first team matches are too precious to trial.

It's all about judgement and Duffy was surplus to requirements.

Anyway, good on Shane for getting a goal. Blackburn are doing well at the moment and I think it would be vindication for Duffy if they got promoted and he then did well at the top level and possibly became a starter for Ireland

Some people on here will never give him his due though

Although it would of been nice to have not sold Duffy and peronsally I think we did sell him a year too early but if we're crying over defenders weve sold dont forget we had a German world cup international on our books (Shokdran Mustafi) and Eric Dier who seems to be banging a fair few goals in for spurs.
Mustafi is doing well over here, a couple of goals last week

.....the ones that achieve better than Everton's 1st team after they have been released as young pro's are a rarity I would say.

We are fantastic at overhyping our younger players as fans. Don't quite know another club like it apart from the shower across the park. I can't think of a player we've let go we've gone on to regret.

He's a decent defender and will give a few clubs some good service over his career. There's no shame in that, congratulations to him, I wish him all the best and hope he gets better.

He doesn't play for my club anymore though.

Yeah, and it would be vindication for JP Kissock if he suddenly dislodged Ronaldo from the Madrid side and won the Ballon D'or.

....there certainly wont be many. Duffy might well become a Premiership regular and good on him if that happens but RM and his coaching staff clearly feel he would be a squad player at best here. They watch him week in week out, if he was good enough they would've played him.

I can't understand the logic that a manager should give young pro's a run of 1st team games even if they don't think they are good enough.

Precisely. Look at Dunne, he's had a pretty good career, but never at a team better than Everton. Scored a few goals too (in the wrong net) lol
