Shane Duffy

Really interesting article that, cheers for posting. Duffy saying he took a while to get over his near-death injury psychologically. It sounds like Yeovil really helped him with that and to refocus on his career. I hope and believe the future at EFC is bright for big Shane, with Ty Browning being highly thought of too I definitely wouldn't sign any new centre backs.

He might make it as a Premier league centre half...but not at a top 6 club like ourselves, in my opinion.

SHANE Duffy has been told by Everton boss Roberto Martinez that pre-season will be his chance to fight for a return to the first team

think it's only fair. means he's happy enough with the first 4 choices at centre back. if he has to replace duffy he won't be splashing the cash on a martins-indi.

if he was already planning that i can't see how duffy would be in his plans.

The three senior guys + Stones and Browning should provide enough options for CB next year, can maybe see Roberto buying a younger CB 17/18/19 with the attributes he is looking for so that he can affect the lads development and mould him into the player he needs for our style of play, the lad Gomez from Charlton maybe or Lascelles from Forest. However things pan out for Shane I wish him luck weather at Everton or elsewhere.

That Gomez is a boss little player.

 Urm yer that's it, a fair whether player:)

Shane is from Donegal FFS they only get one kind of weather up there and it isn't fair too often !! lol

Letterkenny?? How are you mate? PM if you don't want to post - you know my history!!;)

I just believe Shane has it in him - all the doubters about Seamus and James McC have crawled under their rocks. With SC as his mate, and with RM prepared to give him a chance I think Shane can show what he's made of - as posted earlier, I hope MON gives him decent game time in the 3 friendlies.

I think Shane will grab the chance with both hands, and be a really useful addition to the first team pool. Going out on loan will have done him the absolute world of good. Season after next I could see Seamus, Stones, Shane and Baines making up an awesome back four.

This sounds so good!

Ah right, didn't know that mate. As much as I'd love him to do well, I can see him playing a few pre-season games, not impressing and being loaned out to a League 1 team. Shame as he showed plenty of promise, just seems to have stalled.

Why would he go to league 1 when he's just had a decent season in the Championship?

It's not so fanciful either....costs nothing from the transfer budget, and with the exception of the elder statesman Baines it's got longevity.....or maybe it will be Seamus, Stones, Shane and Oviedo Baby with Baines doing his Lahm thing in midfield.
We'd have Ty Browning on the bench too.

That back four/five with Barkley, McCarthy and Lukaku completing the youthful backbone would make us fantastically good on the eye

nice lad hes not good enough to play for everton thou ,shame
Think I've said this before about him, very committed and hard working... Always gives his all but unfortunately it's just not top level.... He'll have a decent career in the game at a lower level... He just lacks that little bit of natural ability to make It at the very top. Been described as being 'quite cumbersome' .... I think that's a nice way of saying he's a lump who don't move too quick. Wish the best for the la though.
