Set Pieces...

That's right, we score alot of our goals from set pieces. I think that just shows how inconsistent the deliveries are all round and proves Brownie's point really.

Last season Arteta, Baines and Osman started to share them. Well mainly Arteta and Baines, but Osman occasionally floated one in.

We are crossing way too deep at times. The longer the ball stays in the air, the more time it will allow big defenders to anticipate and defend.

I can't remember any goal we scored by a corner this season...too much flight on the ball means less pace on the ball which means that the delivery was like Frank Lampard's...[Poor language removed]!

Billy can strike freekicks saw him do that for locomotive..needs to do that again

It frustrates me, because for most teams, a corner will result on a shot on goal. For Everton however, it results in either hitting the first man or going into the hands of the goalie. I can't understand why we are unable to have a decent corner. They get worse every week. Surely they must practice them in training?

Another thing with set pieces is how defensive we are at corners. Most of the time we have all 11 players in the box, no one on the half way line or beyond. This means it is just expecting more pressure. If we put Yakubu or someone on the half way line, it draws at least 2 of the oppositions players back to cover him. Its just frustrating as we are just inviting more pressure

This is a very good point(y)...but it's something we've done over the years and it invites more pressure. Need to cut it out

when do attacking teams put all ten outfield players in the box for a corner?

regardless of how many we defend with, teams always leave players back.

more likely to defend with more people defending.

Seems a lot of managers believe in defending corners with all 11. I recall that Mourinho used to leave Makelele up on the halfway line (probably because he was too short to defend a corner effectively) and I saw him create at least two goals by being there when a corner was cleared. Wonder if we could do the same with, say, Baines...

Strikers like Saha should come back because he's good in the air and decent at defending set pieces.

Bringing players like Yakubu back is a waste of time though.

Seeing Larsson consistently whip balls into the danger zone the other week was depressing. One, because it meant danger for us and two, because we have no-one who can do that anywhere near as well at the moment.
