Seriously, how can we avoid deflections?

we need defenders with big fat legs. Its the only way.

Our problem isn't deflections, but giving teams time to play on the edge of our box.

This is exactly it. I dont believe in luck when it comes to sport. Donovan couldve closed the ball down better on the edge of the area for the first goal and Rosicky shouldnt have had so much time and space for the second.

Weve built up a decent unbeaten run of late which is a lot better than all the defeats at the start of the season. But our defence just isnt quite there at the mo I think Jags come back will be when our season really turns around

My god how stupid is this thread becoming?

Deflections are just unlucky, would you prefer they made no effort to put their bodies in front of the ball?

Last night MOTD were praising Birmingham for doing pretty much what we did - our luck is out and there's is in. Not much you can do about luck.

Agree with this

A thread about avoiding deflections?? Good grief.

Our players are out there giving it everything and throwing themselves in front of shots which is all you can ask. They can't help what happens after the ball deflects off them. 9 times out of 10 the balls rebounds to safety, it's just bad luck.

Absolute nonsense, defections happen just our luck it happened twice and resulted in 2 goals. Cannot be avoided. This thread would never have been started if the deflections had put the ball out for corners.:dodgy:

BB had it right though, we play too deep at times and invite teams to come at us.

What was that game last season that supposedly turned our season around after a poor start?

Anyone remember how Pienarr scored our only goal in a 1 nil win at Spurs?

Nobody gave a tuppeny toss when Cech deflected one in at the bridge and then when Drogba got so much on a header it looped in off a totally unknowning Saha. Rough with the smooth people.

Have to say it is not nice seeing Arsenal claw another equaliser back in stoppage time again. So long as they hand out a few stuffings there to certain other sides, we might look back and say it was an important point that keeps momentum and continues our unbeaten run since the kids lost to BATE (so really since we lost at Goodison to the scum on November 29th.)
