Philippe Senderos hopes he's shown enough of his ability in training to prove he could be an asset for Everton next season.
The Swiss international joined on loan from Arsenal during the January transfer window and vowed to make an impression on Merseyside after struggling to hold onto a regular place in the Gunners first team line-up.
But the defender has suffered a series of minor knocks since his arrival at Goodison and Senderos admits it has been difficult to sit on the sidelines.
"It has been frustrating but that is often what happens in football," he exclusively told evertontv. "Obviously I would love to play for the first team but the chances are limited so I hope to be as fit as I can when I join in.
"I think they know what I am about now. I just need a run in the team and then we'll have to see what happens in the summer.”
The centre-back played a full 90 minutes for Everton's reserves in their 1-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old has made just three appearances for the Toffees so far and knows with the current form of the side it will be hard to stake his claim on a place.
"Playing for the reserves gives me minutes on the pitch and though it is never the same as playing with the first team I will take anything that comes along,” he said. “I will also do as well as I can when I get a chance to play.
"The manager and everyone at the club have been very supportive and that is nice to see," he continued. "I am very happy here and I just hope we can finish the season well by getting a European place.”
Senderos still aims to play a role in Switzerland's World Cup campaign in South Africa in June but he is already looking ahead to next season.
"I hope I am now back to full fitness and that I can join up with the national team in good condition," he said. "It is very important for me to play for 90 minutes. I need games and I also need to prepare for the World Cup as well as I can.
"I also hope to finish the season well with Everton. The team has been on a great run too recently. I hope we can have a strong finish to the season."
LCAB will probably rubbish this as we're not interested in keeping him but....for argument sakes.....
Keeper or goner?
Personally...25 years old, played at a high level, getting back from injuries...ON A FREE......
I would if it works out for the best (him wanting to stay, wages etc).
Anyone else?
