Sell Heitinga, invest up front/wide

12-13 games without a clean sheet isnt just a bad patch mate he's been awful this season imo if we have a keeper like begovic and a strong CB paring (Jags and lescott?) we would be one of the toughest defences in the league attacking wise we are fine (just need jela to start firing) its our defense that needs sorting I panic whenever the oppositon get a free kick/corner when years ago you knew we would clear them with ease

If your wondering how a team that has the majority of possession and still leaks goals look at Spurs and their many keepers over the years. I'm not really buying the fact that Friedel just got old overnight becuase he still looks quick. Man Utd has given up 28 (5 more than us) sometimes having it 65% of the time.

Not saying Begovic isn't good, because he is. How are you going to get a keeper as good as Begovic for under 10M unless you are extremely lucky? That being said how many 1v1s/uncontested shots have Begovic faced this year? In contrast I bet we are at the top of the league in free headers and 1v1s given up by the D. Its much easier to play keeper when the D is stout and you have 9-10 back. Hart was considered to be one of the best keepers in the league at Brum (where they played 9-0-1) and initally at City. While he's still good he's made his share of mistakes this year now that the D is somewhat struggling.

Haven't read much of this thread... I'd sell Heitinga though, nothing but a blag 'hardman'. Pulls out of challenges and nothing but ****house. The only half decent thing he ever done was shoulder barge Ashley Cole in that penalty shootout. I've been more impressed with Duffy when he's played.
If we get ridof him he won't be missed in the slightest.

What pissed me off the most this game was the fight he almost caused at the end for the bad challenge. Yes, it was worth a card. But you've been on the pitch for 15 minutes, and you're the one who shoves his chest into the opponent instigating a fight?

Johnny, give it a rest. It's exhausting. You can be all proud when your form deserves it. It doesn't right now. Far from it. Focus on yourself man. I don't know how you go from player of the year to bench unless there's a hidden injury or just apathy. I could be wrong...

But just don't be stupid on the pitch and cost your team the game. Please.

We need a couple of signings in January to lift the team for the last part of the season and I would really like to cash in on him now

Heitinga quotes are nothing new, no real surprise to see him go next month, deal to Ajax was close in the summer, no real loss for Everton

It starts...

I'm laying down my marker early - everything and anything from Tw@tter from absolutely anyone is pure horsesh*t.

This was linked from Twitter today, the day before we play a team who scored 8 in their last game :

HISTORY suggests it is a daunting prospect, but each time Everton FC continue to avoid defeat at Goodison this season they move a step closer to a remarkable achievement.

Almost 50 years have passed since the Blues went through an entire league campaign without losing a match in front of their own fans.

But while Phil Jagielka admits that he would like David Moyes’ men to emulate the feat of Harry Catterick’s 1962/63 title winners, the defender insists that his eyes remain on a more meaningful prize.

'need for regular football'

Pretty sure he started consecutive games for about 8-10 games and was absolutely gash in every one of them.
