Your true hero, IMO(remember, I am not a Finn FFS!!!), should be Ari Vatanen, Hanu Mikkola, Juha Kankkunen or Tommi Makinen. Those guys are REAL drivers. And lets not forget Henri Toivonen, who tragically never got to properly fulfill his potential.

they are, cool to see that you know your stuff. i remember when i heard the news about toivonens tragedy. horrible destiny :(

I love Rallying more than Formula 1, but am bitterly disappointed at what the WRC has become.

I still fire up Climb Dance and watch Ari do his thing up Pikes Peak. Truely special, that was his second time up the mountain and he broke the course record.

Toivonen's death also signalled the end of the Group B days (which was sad, but also the right choice), it was just sad that it took his death, in addition to the deaths of spectators for the changes to be made.

Group B...those were monster machines!
i love rally too, have been in Neste Rally several times, it is one of summers highlights.

I have been to a couple, Rally GB once, and quite a few local events.

As for the Group B machines, you know Toivonen took a Delta S4 around Estoril, and his time would have qualified him for 6th (IIRC) at the previous F1 Portuguese Grand Prix. Showed the truly ridiculous speed of these cars.

ffs, i didnt know that :)

I hope Mercedes can come back next year and really give it a good go. Maybe because Michael Schumacher is like my driving idol but still, I expected pretty big things from them, especially since they took over that Brawn team that was so good in the first part of 2009, but I've been pretty disappointed.

Congratulations to Vettel, he had the best car behind him like. You knew he'd be something special when he won the Italian GP in 2008 from pole.

I'm a massive Formula 1 fan, I have been since I was about 5 but I always lose a little bit of interest when there is a totally dominant driver/constructor, and so I haven't really watched that much of the second half of this season.

I'm a bit annoyed about the TV deal for the next season though and It's making me regret neglecting it recently, It was only a matter of time before Sky got it tbh.

I fumed when I found this one out. We still get like half the races but aside from the Six Nations, F1 was the only thing on tele that was exclusively on something other than Sky in it's entirety.

DRS has finally reinvigorated the sport.

And you are wrong about the Schumi/Mika days being the best.

The single best season, in the midst of the best era of Formula 1 was when Prost and Senna were both in at McLaren and won 15 of the 16 races between them, creating some of the most exciting races ever seen. I think it was 1988.

Plus the 1.5l V6 Turbo's pumping out 1500 hp in race trim and 1800hp in qualifying trim. RIDICULOUS!!!!!

It has been a huge success. Superb.

golden days to me: schumacher vs. häkkinen, now the sport has nothing interesting to offer, freaking boring stuff
(and thats only my opinion, naturally it was interesting to see finn among those who fight for the championship, but generally speaking F1 has lost it. not enough action, not enough interesting personalities, not enough balls. cars look like sh** and no overtakings. ffs)

these were th golden days of F1

I grew up watching those guys. Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna. Prost was my idol back then, so I used to hate Senna, was a massive loss when he died :( Still since him and then MSC, Vettel is the best driver out there, what Button and Hamilton where supposed to be for us.

my opinion, dude. häkkinen was our national hero then. and still kind of a legend

& senna vs. prost = legendary stuff

Senna, greatest of them all.

Yeah agree with these. Those three seasons, 88-90, where Prost and Senna battled every year, taking each other out. Classic.

This totally sux. Hate Sky. Thank god for the internet.

Not sure I really agree with DRS. Would like it if they could find something that just made it easier to follow the car ahead without effectively ruining your own performance, instead of basically making you a sitting duck if someone comes up behing you in the DRS zone, or too easy if it's you coming up behind someone else.

Whoever said F1 is dead clearly hasnt watched this season.

This season has had some much overtaking, drama and awesome driving, its had more this year than the last 5 put together probably!

I would love to see Vettel, Button and Alonso in similar cars. Would be great, Button has really impressed this season.

I agree mate, if Hamilton can get his act together he has so much pace, him and Vettel in similar cars for me.

To be honest out of them all i think Alonso is probably the best driver - which is annoying because i dont like him!! Hamilton and Vettel are similar drivers i think, and Button is a calculator which can have its advantages and disadvantages.

Having them 4 has made a brilliant F1 season. Wish Raikonnen was still in F1 too...

I think Vettel is at his best from the front where as Hamilton loves to overtake and race to the limits, I find them different.

Agree about Button he has been amazing this year, I would like to see Alonso in a quicker car to see how he compares.
