Looks so, even Newcastle websites are saying we've beaten them.

Newcastle United are looking to strengthen their defence this summer, but it looks as though the Magpies might miss out on Sebastian Boenisch as fellow Premier League club Everton have jumped to the front of the queue in the race for the Pole according to BILD.

The German Newspaper reports that the free agent, whose contract with Bundesliga club Werder Bremen ran out in the summer, is wanted by Newcastle, Everton and Premiership new boys Reading, but that the Toffees are favourites to sign the defender.

As of the end of the 2011–12 season, Boenisch is a free agent having let his contract run down and played that poorly during the UEFA Euro 2012 that VfB Stuttgart withdrew their contract offer, citing lack of performance as the reason for their action.
