2023/24 Sean Dyche

The two Arsenal home games couldn't have been more different. The difference in the level of pressing, intensity, and aggression was enormous yesterday. We also didn't put many balls into the box for some reason. I have absolutely no idea what we were trying to do, and I don't believe Dyche had a clue either. He chucked a team onto the pitch who were clearly not coached well enough, and it showed.
This! Said it on another post he is working with these players all week am not seeing tactics translate on the pitch in games!

Gary Neville described it as dreary, I think that's a good summary of the season!! I'd rather be nasty and fight and be hated right now were a laughing stock!
To be honest, the style of football we play and the lack of any apparent desire to tweak things and try something different has convinced me Dyche is not the right man for the job. Our off the field situation probably means we are stuck with him and I only see that having one outcome.

The game plan was the same, sit deep, soak, win set plays etc.

I agree the intensity was different but the basics such as the ability to pass a ball, control it, added with some awful set pieces (they put Raya in for a reason, and we didn't trouble him once with Ashley Young's floaties) was lacking. We'd graft and win the ball only to look like a Sunday league team with it

Onana, Doucoure, and Gana are terrible technicians. They've attributes but holding on to the ball isn't one of them.

Surely some pressure has to be put on the club, even with owners outgoing, to get rid of him in the next few weeks, particularly if we get 1 or 2 points max up until the derby.

If we don't play with intensity and aggression then we have no chance. I don't ever want to see an Everton side stand that far off at Goodison. It was absolutely pathetic tactics, and it shows why Dyche is not suited to be our manager, and is out of his depth at a club of this stature.

The set pieces are appalling and that's on the coaching as much as Young. The decision not to put many balls into the box from open play was just bizarre.

Arsenal won't have an easier away game all season. Our game plan was to play for nil nil, and once we went behind we gave up. Arsenal were there for the taking and we weren't even aggressive!!

I see absolutely nothing I like in this team, and if we are going to struggle all season and go down, then I want a manager who I can get behind and someone who will try their best to win every week.

Dyche is exactly the manager Moshiri and the board would want. This is the biggest job he will ever get by far, and he's not going to rock the boat. He's exactly the manager who we don't need because he won't create any connection between club and supporters and ultimately his results are worse than Lampard. I wish we hadn't made the change last season.

I think that's what frustrates me yesterday. The few glimpses of attack we had where Doucoure made a run, DCL chance at the end and the part where Danjuma/Gueye took silly shots instead of passing it showed that Arsenal could have been exposed if we tried to attack that little bit extra and with a bit more intensity. If we don't stand off as much yesterday it doesn't end up in defeat.

That's what frustrates me about Dyche. He gets it wrong too much. He has perhaps one game in ten where he gets his tactics spot on but that's just not enough. We need a manager who has a consistent tactic which is good enough to keep us competitive and he's shown multiple times that he doesn't.

Well said fella

Personally the biggest problem I find with Dyche, aside from his obvious limitations as a coach, is that there's nothing to be excited about. It doesn't feel like there's a plan for us to improve over time. I don't see any patterns of play that will pay dividends in the future. There's no discernible style. It just seems like every single game is treated in exactly the same way.

I look at great envy at managers like Thomas Frank, De Zerbi, Emery (and to an extent even Potter), who clearly place a big emphasis on long-term success by instilling a clearly identifiable style that really pays off over time. Literally the only pattern of play we have is pass it back to Pickford.

Spot on, all those managers seem really involved with the group of players and all this fraudster does is throw them under the bus without taking any responsibility himself. This squad of players I believe with the right coaching can be between 14th and 11th

I was supportive of him but that is fading now - makes some really odd decisions playing players out of position - and he's had his pre-season with not much to show for it.

The club hasn't exactly showered him with signings - and they've been very late so he hasn't exactly been set up for success. However, neither will the next manager as far as we can tell.

Maybe he's run out of steam and waiting for the pay-off. Can't be bothered to watch his interviews anymore so not sure if he is still up for the fight.

I'd give him a few games now but, assuming we have the money to, you'd have be considering your next option.
