2025/26 Seamus Coleman

I've not said that. I've written what the poster said about not wanting Irish players because of the pure bias towards them for being Irish.

Personally couldnt care less where players are from.

Not been to Ireland, not interested to visit for any particular reason...much the same as Bolivia for example.

Its tedious to read page after page of posters praising a man who used to be exceptional and who is now not able to play premier league football.
I spent 2 months in Bolivia. Highly recommended if you're in your 20s.

I wasn’t inviting you for a visit so rest easy.

I don’t think anyone is arguing Coleman is the player he was but he doesn’t pick himself. His start against United actually made sense though after two good international outings.

Again, i think it was utter madness to use Coleman after 2 games.

He CAN be effective when rested and brought in on occasion. Certainly not after 2 games at his age and brittleness.

I agree with Coleman playing against United. He came through two big international games unscathed so why not give it a try. Unfortunately it didn't work out therefore people jumped on the hindsight saying he wasn't ready because he tweaked a hamstring. Easy enough to criticise with hindsight. For me correct decision to play him, it just didn't work to plan due to an unforeseen injury.

As the only right back at the club, and on the back of two good performances, it was the correct decision to start him. Just bad luck.

Wasnt utter madness. Just a risk that didn't pay off. Gueyes stupidity was utter madness

We often hear of players being 'managed' in terms of game time.

I think Gana should also have his games 'managed' as hes had off games this season and probably should be rotated.

3 games in short succession for any 37 year old is a risk and a risk we shouldnt be taking for either of them.

Doubt we'd have gotten stuffed today with him. We'll never know of course

Now now, I don't think hindsight was required there, he has a track record of breaking down in Everton games after international breaks. It was the most obvious injury of the season so far.

He spent the whole of the two Ireland matches parked by his own corner flag in a 7 or 8 man defence, a donkey (which is what he is actually) could do it.

When he got the ball he either kicked it out, kicked it backwards or kicked it straight to the other team (as usual). He offered precisely ZERO in an attacking sense, par for the course.

He's scored one goal for Ireland in about 15 years and that was a total fluke although I'd give him 10 out of 10 for determination in that particular play, to be fair.

As for influence in either dressing room, any young player with half a brain would want to swerve his tired line of patter (and I'd say most of them do) it's getting old at this stage and frankly weird.

We need winners in both teams not perpetual losers. Can't wait to see the back of him, he's like the turd 💩 that never flushes.
You don't know what you are on about. Probs one the "fans" who started watching the national team again after the Portugal game.

This thread really is Ireland Vs the Rest of the World. Coleman is finished as a top flight player, all of the evidence shows that. He's barely available to play and when he does he is ruthlessly targeted by the opposition. He so badly needs to retire at the end of the season but I'm fearful that we'll be right back here this time next season with midfielders and centre halves playing RB and the Irish contingent explaining away the myriad reasons that Coleman isn't available. It's a sad end to an otherwise fabulous career.
