Thought Seamus played quite well until the last quarter. Still far superior to Young and Patterson. Both going forward and defensively. This was easily our most creative game for months, before the capitulation, when quite frankly several much younger players looked dead on their feet. A few people seem to have had an agenda with Coleman for years, if a few more team members had his professionalism and attitude we might not be in this position.
"Agenda" meaning that posters have stated:
1: He's not worked on his game in a long long long time, for example; crossing and defending?
2: The 'rallying cries' from one of our poorest performers for many years
3: Eagerness to play for Ireland in multiple meaningless games while injury prone for his club -- shades of Slaven Bilic?
Certainly not superior to Patterson in any way shape or form. The only thing they have in common are injuries.
Yeh his professionalism and attitude to stopping crosses is wicked.
Stopping crosses and making crosses.
I mean he's better than Young but then again who isn't, and still -
Agenda against him - no, there's an agenda against his play, which is turd and has been for a while, but he's a 'top blue' as we know, so he must play and every mistake he does must be excused because... reasons.
He's also not our best right back by any metric by the way, and hasn't been for ages, but "there's an agenda against Patterson" too so
It seems to me that he should be behind both Patterson and Dixon.
Its whether Dyche wants to keep his job.
He'll be trotted out for two 90-minute competitive fixtures for Ireland in just four days, then come back to the club that has made him a multimillionaire and be knackered or even unavailable completely for our crucial game against Aston Villa. What a man, what a legend.
Superb prediction
He was kept on cos he wages have dropped and save money buying a new full back. Decisions like this could take us down. I'm hoping the idea is for Dixon to stake his claim and Coleman as his mentor.
Lets hope Colemans off pitch 'mentoring' is far, far, far superior to his failed on pitch captaincy.
From Glasgow are you?
No agenda with Patterson whatsoever. He has had his injury problems, but doesnt seem to have regained his initial promise and appears to have fallen behind Seamus and Young in the pecking order (and even Godfrey last season) when he's been available. So, I'm not sure what metric you're talking about.
Hopefully, he'll regain his form and "his day will come" as some of you like to say up there.
Surely you can see that Pattersons performances have been far superior to Colemans? Dixon who apparently wasnt near the first team is a better option than Coleman.
If we had a manager that didnt select based upon 'premier league (failed) experience then Coleman would be 3rd choice at best and have left the club years ago at worst.
So, you think he's always conceeded lots of crosses, yet has managed a 15yr career despite that? That's both contradictory and complete waffle?
One of the scored headed crosses on Saturday was from our left. The one from our right was a deeper cross and therefore not entirely his responsibility, with a tap in at the back post where our left back had lost his man.... all Seamus' fault?
Coleman cant cross and cant defend crosses. In his entire career that has been something considered as fact.
Coleman is also an Everton player.
Why are you accusing me of sectarianism? I merely said he's lost form and fallen down the pecking order. All well documented. I also said that hopefully he regains that initial promise. So you can F off with your accusations.
Coleman shouldnt have been given a contract extension by Kenwright during his bad injury many years ago.
He may be an Everton player as you correctly point out...but if anything, his captaincy will be remembered and should be remembered as an utter failure.
Many ex pros choose to retire when they know their legs have gone. Coleman and the manager are to blame for him still being on the books and even the bench let alone playing.
No one can say with a straight face "The club has no money". Not when wasting wages on Coleman and Young.
