Seamus Coleman isn't up to it.

Sure, he hasn't been great, but I just don't see the sense in picking out a player to criticise at the moment. Nobody has been playing well for us lately. Our good players are playing worse because of the tripe around them.

That's a good point. I could have pointed out how awful Fellaini's passing was and how out of the game Saha was etc. etc.etc. The only good played on the pitch today were the back 4 and Howard.

The defence have been very good lately despite us conceding loads this season, oddly. The reason we lose isn't because of the defence though, it's because we give their defence absolutely nothing to worry about. If we play attacking players willing to have a go, not only their defence, but their midfield has to drop back and then we're on the front foot. That never happens anymore.

Harsh.

What exactly can he do when he has no support and no one to cross to?

Oh and well, he's a fullback. Not a winger. Play him at RB please.

Dunno. But when he does have someone to cross to he either takes on the man unnecessarily or crosses it with the pace of a snail 5 yards behind his target.

I want to make it clear I'm not just talking about today when he's had no support lids, I've thought this for ages even when we've battered teams.

Wow. Just wow.

He was our best player today, along with Baines. How you can question his quality is remarkable. He has a League 2 player behind him, No strikers to aim for and is playing in an unfavoured position Moyes has assigned him to.

One of the only ones today who looked capable of creating something. I think he's hit a nice bit of form, it is just unfortunate the rest of the team have been dross.

If anyone needs slating for not being of the right level in quality, its Hibbert.

His end product needs work but to be fair most wingers bar the truly world class need a fullback in support to help them. It's tough taking people on directly, on your own. And when Tony Hibbert is your support it's arguably tougher than doing it on your own!

But anyway, I've said for ages he's better on the overlap. There's a reason Baines plays at LB and not LM, after all.

Jesus Christ. Some people.

Just because a player is fast and has a run at defenders doesn't make him any good.

Plenty of times he's got options e.g. an overlapping runner or an early cross yet he chooses to get his head over the ball and run like a bull to a red rag down the line.

He's OK compared to what we've got, but I don't see him being better than Barkley and the point of this thread is to say he is not the future of Everton's right midfield as some people seem to think he is.

Honestly, I don't hink Coleman had a bad game today. I think he did OK, but not bad. And yes we need a right mid player, because Seamus isn't one. But at leat he ran at players and tried to make things work, even if they didn't.

I actually thought most of the team played OK today. But I thought Heitinga was outstanding, he seems to be getting better the more he plays at centre back.

The two guys we should be slating were Saha and Billy. Saha just wasn't in the game at all. There was a ball played down the line by I think either Hibbert or Coleman, into space, the channel and as a lone front man you should be chasing that ball down, trying to put pressure on the defenders. He just doesn't do it. FFS Marcus Bent could do it and he was sh*te.

And well what can I say about Billy. He's had numerous opportunites to "prove" himself, but he just continues to let himself and us down.

SHame Drenthe's out injured, he probably would've made a little bit of a diiference.

And I thought McAleny looked half decent

He didn't have a bad game at all, at least he was trying. I like the lad a lot but he's not the answer at right mid. We need him at right back sharpish and honing his skills in that position.

This this this this this. I've said before he's not been played out of position, he hasn't had his confidence knocked and he has had plenty of time on the pitch. He's just not a good footballer, simple as.

I'm with you mate.

Not having a go at the lad, i like Shamy and when he plays well he is a decent player who gives us some pace and directness out wide which we previously lacked.

But he kinda reminds me of Gosling, Looks ok, has good moments but when it comes down to it he isn't premier league quality and will get found out by decent left backs.

Which considering where he was a few years a go is hardly surprising.

Quality wise he isn't our future at right mid, but unfortuantly he might have to be.

And i can't see him improving much on what he is, certainly as a right winger.

thought coleman and hibbo were decent today.
There were certainly worse on the pitch for us.
we've lost the two most influential players going forward so we will struggle to make chances.
That's not the players fault and slating what we have left won't cure the problems.
probably heap more pressure on and make things worse.
I say now is the time to get behind the team and players turn the corner and hopefully move on.
