Seamus Coleman Calls Time On Everton Playing Career

Never won a thing with us and never qualified as captain with Ireland for anything, ZILCH.

Think he played in one tournament, was it the 2016 Euros? He wasn't 'captain' at that time (not that 'captain' means anything anyway, it's a b*llsh*t job) and Ireland were DIRT 💩 as usual.

Talks a great game though.

But we celebrate failure in this country as we do at Everton, it's pathetic.

Fed up here but hoping for a more successful future, club and country.

….but other than that, you like him

His playing career ended 3 seasons ago unfortunately.

Reading the players comments though he’s an inspirational character to have around so hopefully he stays on at the club in some capacity.

Been a great clubman, also a very good player when he was at his best.

Nothing against him personally, don't know him, don't care.

I have won things in football, I'm not into 'it's the taking part that counts' - that's for kids (rightly so). Just bringing my 4 year old to training right now as goes.
This unfortunately typifies the current state of the game and culture in general, forget about humility, loyalty, commitment and doing the best in the circumstances you face the only thing that matters is trophies.

There are many football clubs and players that do not achieve medals but if they can inspire others and be good for the game and balance the mercenary materialistic, win at all costs approach from other clubs, who most people detest.

. . . so you believe you have had a better career than Seamus?

….its been a long time since anybody ‘won anything’ at our club but we’ve had such a traumatic period and survived when others have fallen into oblivion. If we do see success again Seamus Coleman might not pick up a medal but will have played his part in it being possible.

For my kids and grandkids, I’m thankful Everton had Seamus Coleman.

Just look at your posting history over the years.

Won things at football 🤣🤣
Brilliant

Is it ridiculous to suggest he should have a stand named (co-named) after him.
When the time comes for titles again it would be good to think that it is grounded in the shadows of a Coleman stand, amongst all the razzle dazzle that would follow. About titles, yes, but more than that.

Maybe a bit too far with that, But he definitely carries a trait that we can all bond over.. Fans and Players.
Something he has said written on the wall, would be more adequate.

Fair enough mate.

One feels you've won the 'unpopular opinion of the week' award 😆
