Current Affairs Scummy Remainers.....

I worked around the world. Nationalised rail didn’t get me anywhere. Housing is still affordable, but may need work ( a word you may not understand). I bought private health insurance. No one helped me.....

Genuinely yiu are without any attachment to reality or working people. Suggesting that the property market is fine because a £15k house you would have to pay up front for and then pay at least £40k up front for whilst paying rent elsewhere is available.
Unbelievable that you genuinely think you made all your money (as you are keen to say you are very well off) without any help from society. We call people like you ladder kickers

I would suggest that you should re-evaluate what I have highlighted. It is too glib a thing to bracket everyone within a catchphrase to score a point.

It was a small clique of the top strata of society who held the reins of all financial matters (and still do) who caused the 'untold financial issues', not the 99.9% of the population one might call 'baby boomers'. That 99.9% had no role to play whatsoever. Ditto for the 'privatised services around the country'.

I hope you follow the distinction I have made. The elite ruling class have always called the shots on such matters, and continue to do so, and will continue to do so, as they will never give up their grip and control of things.
This was in direct response to pete and his suggestions that generations after didn’t kno what hard work was and tht he’d just pulled himself up by his bootstraps

Actually, just had a look on Google Earth. It’s quite a nice little house on a decent street. Others have sold for £40K. Worth a go if you need a house.......

You also ignore that it is an auction. The house will more than likely go for quite a bit above £15k

Funny you say that, I was just looking as well. If you bought a house in the area in 1998, it would have cost you about £8000, in 2004 about £50000. I wonder if wages have increased in line with that change in valuation?

Well in 1998, interest rates were between 6-7%, so you’d probably be paying less for the house now.....worth a go as I say.....needs someone will to work on it though.......

I don't buy into this 'the previous generation have ruined things for us', neither do I think all young people are work shy.

The current intergenerational bitterness seems engineered somewhat, in the same way that people are being primed to consider public servants as lazy and ungrateful.
I don't know mate. A lot of the bitterness in some of these threads looks pretty genuine to me. It's sad really and a reflection on how much Brexit has driven a wedge through the nation as a whole.

Doesn't matter who it was in response to. It bracketed all, and therefore merited a response correcting matters. Did I, or Pete, or joey, or nearly all others of our age group, have any influence whatsoever on national, international, or global financial matters? The answer is 'No'! Look to the top strata of our society, the Henley Regatta and Ascot race meeting toffs, for the culprits who call the shots on such matters, and don't give a toss about you or I. Whatever you do, don't bracket me with them...

It annoys me that my generation continually get blamed on here by certain people for all the woes of the nation in present times.

I think it's genuine by those spouting a veiw, just more misdirected anger. You paint the young as work shy ingrates and the old as racist, bigots who the young are having to shoulder the burden for.
