A bit of internal wrangling at Rangers re the ‘Old Friends’ derby in Australia?

TRFC fans definitely seems to be a lot more up in arms about this game as the Celtic fans. I'm guessing it's because it's been reported that Celtic are getting more money for the game and they don't like the fact they're second fiddle in this tournament.

In fairness, if it was in Rotterdam and billed as Giovani's homecoming, and Celtic were getting a lot less money than TRFC, I daresay I would be a tad miffed, though their fans have gone a bit apesheet over this.

The Celtic - TRFC rivalry isn't a friendly one, so it seems strange to have friendly matches between the clubs, but I've read TRFC fans on Twitter say someone at their club has said they'll get as much money for this tournament as an entire season in the SPFL Premiership. When they put it like that, it's a no brainer.

Bring it on I say. It's excellent money for both clubs. The fact that it upsets The Rangers fans so much is just gravy. ?

Where are you getting this Celtic are getting more money nonsense from?

Not a chance in hell Rangers would sign up for something that was filling Celtic’s pocket more than theres. Our board are daft but their not that daft lol.

I've only seen it said on Twitter. I don't know if Celtic are getting more money, or not. Clearly, you know all the figures involved to confidently state it's nonsense.

I haven't taken much interest in the tournament, but I've been told it's been billed as Ange's homecoming. You think if Rangers were getting say £3 million pounds for competing in a tournament (that figure is purely hypothetical btw and not based on anything) and Celtic were getting £4 or 5 million The Rangers board would knock back £3 million pounds for a few games because Celtic were getting more?

That doesn't seem a particularly smart way to run a business if you throw your toys out of the pram and knock back more money than you make in an entire season playing in the SPFL Premiership because your rivals are getting a bit more. You could pull anyone out of the Union Bears who could run the club in such a manner.

While plenty of fans of both clubs don't want this game to go ahead, The Rangers fans definitely seem a lot more agitated about it than the Celtic fans. There must be a reason for this?

Why would Celtic get more for a start? Absolute nonsense to claim they are lollollol

Why are TRFC fans a lot more angry about this than the Celtic fans?
How long have you got? The fact your board had to apologise to the fans for referring to us as “Rangers”. Your pathetic statement last year were not part of anything days after renewing the old firm trademark. I could really go on but it’s not really a big shock we want absolutely f all to do with your club.

The fact they're playing there at all is obviously for commercial reasons, I cannot believe for one minute Celtic are getting more money and I think Celtic supporters are less angry due to it possibly being looked on as their manager's homecoming.

Merely the views of an impartial observer though I do have mates in either camp who are not arsed either way as long as their team wins the league.

Celtic are known the world over. Of course it's that brand pulling the cash in and the payment for the game has to reflect that.

Rangers are an SPL club - it's not like they're a PL club and they get exposure globally. In that respect it'd be out of order for Everton to get less cash than Liverpool in any derby fixture down there. But the same cant be said for the Glasgow clubs. The SPL isn't a commercial draw and the only reason that Aussie game will go ahead is because it's Celtic.

hahahahahaha
YOU NEVER DISSAPOINT.

I'm just stating facts. To put forward the proposition that rangers are on the same level globally as Celtic is pure fantasy. It'd be like me claiming that Everton have a greater global recognition than Liverpool.
hahahahah you talk some amount of [Poor language removed]. Celtic are not bigger than Rangers in any shape of form. For you to even suggest it shows you how little you know.

If this is a "Fact" I would bloody love you to prove this. An absolute myth.
