Celtic should stick it out I reckon and wait for the injury list to go down. You can't win the league every year and their recent record still trounces Rangers, who aren't so great themselves anyway.
Mind you I don't live in Glasgow!

It's easy to take comfort from the recent nine in a row but before this season started we knew Rangers couldn't possibly win eight league titles all in one season, what they could do is win this year's to make it two in a row. Putting up no meaningful competition to them doesn't go down well in my book.

Celts were looking great for a spell early on in the season. Was there a change in personnel or injuries that damaged them? Extraordinary loss of form anyway.
It's all very well beating Dundee and a 10 man St Mirren 5 or 6-0 at home but everytime they have came up against a decent side they've lost!!
The football philosophy of their manager is suicidal, with the quality of players that they have and defending seems to be beyond most of them.
Carry on Ange... Comedy gold!!

Largely agree with you there, I think the defence is simply shocking to be honest. The best way to protect a non existent defence is by attacking and monopolising possession, something they can do quite easily domestically which tbh says everything about the standard of the domestic league setup.

The big difference is in Europe, even in this second tier competition, the opposition teams do get the ball occasionally and it seems score at will against the cardboard cutouts called defenders. As you say injuries have hardly helped but the master tactician in charge atm is clueless too.
Haven't been much cop Domestically either tbh, so far this season they've already lost 3 games and drew one out of 7 in league.

The newco managed to land 54 titles in 2012. :coffee:

I know records can be incomparable especially if you treat them as a new company following the bankruptcy etc but here in England the past is forgotten when s new season starts.

This season is always about THIS season and no amount of jokes can lessen the disappointment of yet another inadequate team and preposterously inadequate but CHEAP coach snatched from that Mecca of worldwide football, Australia. I wonder why no other team in Europe is recruiting from a league that's so obviously always attracted the world's best managers?

That's a joke imo.

For me, the boards running of the club had been found wanting. They still haven't managed to appoint a director of football and the new CEO they appointed in the summer who, depending on what story you believe, was either sacked or walked out because the board wouldn't back his plans to take the chub forward, after a couple of months.

Recruitment in particular has been disappointing. This season I would say Kyogo has been a big success, and Joe Hart has looked a good signing. Abada has scored goals from out wide, though he's disappeared in a few games. The amount of money Celtic have wasted on poor signings over the years has been shocking.

While the newco are a disaster financially, they have run the football side of things a lot better than Celtic. They seem to get their singings in early to be prepared for the start of the season, especially the early rounds in European competitions, while Celtic wait to see what competition they'll be playing in before committing to signing players and seem to sign a lot of players who aren't fit well into the season.

The managers intransigence in refusing to change a system no matter what players are available to play isn't good. By all means have your style of play. If you inherit a team with Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi, you'll probably want to play a passing game. If however you inherit a side with Duncan Ferguson as your striker I reckon you should play a system that leads to crosses going into the box as Ferguson was outstanding in the air.

Postecoglou refuses to change a system that has seen the team play two games in the Europa league, and concede 4 goals in each of them. Celtic have taken a few doings in the Champions League over the years, but now it would appear we're taking doings in the Europa League. Surely even our board can see that's a reduction in quality?

I have mixed feeling about the manger as while my gut tells me he isn't god enough, and will end up being sacked, my head tells me it's unfair to sack a guy after a couple of months, especially when he has had a horrendous injury list to contend with. As he managed in Japan, I think he would have been behind the Kyogo signing, a signing I reckon will make Celtic a lot of money in the coming years. James McCarthy has been unavailable for most of the season so far (shockeroonie!) but when he has played he hasn't looked good at all. His passing has been woeful. Celtic need to get in a good Director of Football who will get better value for money with his signings.

Beni Baningime update:

Premiership Player of the Year front-runner. 9.5/10.

Which shows how poor the SPL is in fairness - imagine Doucoure in that league for example!

Would love Hearts or Hibs to win it this season and break the bigot brothers monopoly.

Out of curiosity mate if Hibs won the SPL this season would you be gutted or a part of you happy to see someone other than the Old Firm win it even if it was your rivals?

A poor quality game so far.

Aberdeen seems to have cottoned on to the tactic used by other Scottish teams that if you throw yourself to the ground against Celtic the referee will reward you with a free kick. Ramsey in particular has spent more time on the deck than on his feet.

Using your criteria Shane Duffy playing well in the EPL, after being a complete disaster in the SPFL, shows how poor the EPL is. ?
