Before Scotland used to qualify for tournaments on a frequent basis, only to crash out in the first round. Now they can't even qualify for tournaments. The 1998 world cup was the last time Scotland played in a major tournament. That's a shocking statistic.

Poor 2nd half performance today, but the damage was done much earlier in the campaign. Will need to visit Russia some other time now, sigh!

Genuinely gutted for you Scots lads, it would have given everyone up here a massive boost to have qualified. You're correct Ton in your comments but the way they finished the Group was a creditable achievement, it must be some years since they have put a run together like that and it's also a good while since the team has captured the public attention as it has done over recent weeks.

Credit to Strachan for galvanising the team and building a great spirit which has been more than evident of late, not too sure if there's much emerging talent to be introduced in the near future but I shall watch with interest and hope that they can sustain their recent form.

I know Griffiths is a bit of a marmite guy but he has matured for the national team during this tournament and it was a cool finish again yesterday, I wouldn't mind having him as a squad player here at the moment to be honest at least he puts in a shift, has a big heart and even if he isn't scoring he's making things happen round about him and certainly gives defenders something to think about.defenders.

The thing that Griffiths gives defenders and everyone else for matter to think about, is how is head shaped like that and does his mum cut his hair lol
