Scotland’s Greatest Night

It seems having a good game against Alan Ball makes you World Class.
Baxter wouldn’t have got anywhere near a Scotland squad in the 60’s unless he was quality. And the players from that time all say the same thing, Baxter was a special talent.

All banter aside, big respect to the Scots and Steve Clarke for the job they’ve done, they’ve come a very long way in recent years from where they were. Haven’t moped about feeling sorry for themselves blaming the population and English born players playing for England instead of them, have knuckled down and got stuck in, and are now getting their rewards. Some of our other home nations could learn a lot from them.

Welcome to the top of the group club boys, and may the best men win tomorrow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🤝 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Did he win the Ballon d’Or like Denis Law?

So to you, if you haven't won a Ballon d'Or you're not world class?

Because if so, that means the only world class player Scotland has ever had is Denis Law.

Completely negating your post below since we've had 4 individuals win it.

Bobby Moore, widely accepted as World Class.
Bobby Chatlton, widely accepted as World Class
Duncan Edwards widely accepted as a “special” player. Died very young, so it’s hard to say what might have been.
Dixie Dean, maybe, I’ve no idea.
Tom Finney, regarded as. World Class, but we are starting to go way back now.
Stanley Matthews again a legend, World Class? And starting to go quite far back.
Gordon Banks regarded as World Class.
Scotland have probably produced a similar number of World Class players as England in the “ Modern” times. If you go further back it’s difficult to saybecause we didn’t play at World Cups. But there are some quality Scottish players in the 50’s before WW2 etc, same as with England.

Chris Waddle was better than Jimmy Johnstone
