For the same player. I don't mean every Leige player would now cost more than £15million.

Nice try though :huh:

Why would it? It's not an inflated price for Lescott.

All I'm saying is (and you know exactly what I mean) if we sold Osman for £15million, would you let Arteta go for £20million?

Fellaini was recognised as the best player in their league when we signed him. He won their leagues player of the year....

Your massively deluded if you think we could have signed Witsel last/this season for £7m. If that was the case how come they rejected bids for Fellaini in March 08?

Defour, Fellaini and Witsel are easy £12m each. Easy. Which is why Liege rejected several of our bids for Fellaini before we signed him. It wasn't a case of us randomly bidding £15m and Liege suddenly realising "bloody hell, we can sell these players for a few quid here...."

A total of 32 Scouts from foreign teams were in the stadium with Marouane Fellaini as the main focus of their interests.

Marouane Fellaini was watched by 32 scouts at that fixture. The young defensive Belgian U/21 player has a growing reputation in Belgium and throughout Europe. Many are surprised that a move to a bigger European club hasn’t materialised this Summer.

Said to be among them Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Bayern Munich etc...

Which is why Liege were in a position to say he isn't going anywere for at least £15m.

Where's that quote from? I don't believe for one second we snapped up a 'huge talent' from under the noses of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Bayern Munich etc.

The 32 quote was said during the Liege & Liverpool match. Its quoted on a Liverpool match report;

Man Utd linked;

Meanwhile, midfielder Marouane Fellaini has ruled out a move to Old Trafford by signing a new contract with Standard Liege.
According to Roger Henrotay, the Belgian Under 21 star's agent, Fellaini snubbed a possible move to England because of his desire for first-team football.
"United phoned us yet again urging Marouane not to sign for Standard," Henrotay told the News of The World.
"But we did not obey them.
"The lad is young and he will get better still, but only if he plays first-team football.
"He'd have earned a lot more money had he gone to Old Trafford but he wouldn't have played."
Real Madrid;

Standard Liege midfielder Marouane Fellaini is interesting Real Madrid.
El Mundo Deportivo says Real sports chief Pedja Mijatovic sees Fellaini as an affordable alternative to Liverpool's Xabi Alonso as he seeks to boost their midfield options for next season.
Tottenham & Man City

"We had heard of the interest of Real Madrid and United but I didn’t want my son to leave the country so young," Fellaini's father Abdullah Tef is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"Last summer Tottenham were very interested and Manchester City too. In the end, though, he went to Everton. I have spoken to David Moyes, who’s a charming man.
Bayern Munich

In view of next season, Bayern Munich is following the Belgian midfielder of Standard Liege, Marouane Fellaini (20).

Monaco, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal, Seville, Spurs and Manchester United.

Currently vice-chairman of Standard Liege, d’Onofrio has invested many millions of euros in the Belgian club and the transfer of Fellaini must have brought him great satisfaction.
It came at a cost, however, as the club has undermined its championship credentials by releasing a young player who was the team’s engine when it won its first Belgian championship for 25 years.
Among the plethora of scouts that found their way to Liege, there have been a number of major clubs, including Monaco, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal, Seville, Spurs and Manchester United.
Everton had put in a bid for him last March, but that was firmly rejected.
However, when Everton upped the ante to £15 million, there was only going to be one answer from d’Onofrio, as that sum was equal to 80% of the club’s annual budget.

etc etc etc

England

After rejected advances from Manchester United[3] and following reported interest from Aston Villa,[4] Real Madrid, Tottenham and Bayern Munich,[5] Fellaini signed for Everton in September 2008
Theres citations to them all. He was one of the most sought after young players in football.
