Dunno if Baines would be any good on the wing... maybe worth a try if we get lucky and get some poo team in one of the cups or if we're six nil up at half time.

Pienaar frustrated today, constantly dallying on the ball and turning in-field or passing backwards.

Hoping Atsu can make a real difference being direct and pacy, we're crying out for that. Mirallas over Pienaar on the left, and Atsu starting on the right or at least competing with McGeady for a start.

If Atsu impresses (is he 100% coming, by the way?) on the LW, then why not try Baines attacking-central-mid? Oviedo, if he regains the form he had, is a fantastic left back. Baines can shoot and pass and run, perfect for that position alongside Ross. He's got a good footballing brain so should be able to adapt, I reckon. But we're not likely to see it, as Bobby would've tried this out pre-season.

So Baines LB, with Bryan deputising. Also a solid system, what with the Europa games to come. But Baines needs a spark to get him going again. Maybe Oviedo taking his place, relegating him to the bench, might give him that spark...

Well I heard he is deffo coming so hope so, haha!

Looks like Baines is staying left back for the immediate future.

Think he has just got stuck in his ways... could have gone to United but stayed with us and probably feels a little bored now, mindful however that we're in Europe and they aren't.

Needs to get back to his form two years ago when he was one of the best left backs in Europe.

I'm honestly not worried about the results or the fitness levels. Slogging in matches you lose probably builds stamina a lot better than cruising through easy wins. Martinez is a licensed physio remember so fitness isn't something I'm thinking about.

The only concern for me is the state of the World Cup players but don't forget, everyone else in the league will be in the same boat if not worse off, especially our nearest competitors.

Of course we'd all like an ideal pre-season where we score for fun, Lukaku slots loads, Baines hits loads of free kicks etc, but if we beat Leicester who have won 6 out of 6 in a scruffy 1-0 then none of it will be a problem.

Hibbert played a lot better I thought against Paterborn than against CV (where I thought he was a little off the pace). Personally, I like his old fashioned defending. Sure, there are not a lot of frills to his game, but he protects our right with his life and you can be sure that no opposition forward fancies running up against him. He is also very loyal and Everton through and through; in short, he's a club legend.

Just don't get these 'loyal' shouts for Tony, has he had numerous offers from clubs that he has knocked back, I doubt it, and during his time as a player here I seriously doubt he could have got an upgrade either professionally at a bigger club or financially with a better wage.

"Club legend", no, just no.
