SC Paderborn 9th August

Hibbert played a lot better I thought against Paterborn than against CV (where I thought he was a little off the pace). Personally, I like his old fashioned defending. Sure, there are not a lot of frills to his game, but he protects our right with his life and you can be sure that no opposition forward fancies running up against him. He is also very loyal and Everton through and through; in short, he's a club legend.
Or dead leg!

Poor pre season. If we get 3 out of 9 points from first 3 games like last year I'll be happy. To be fair, whilst we did ok against juventus and Real Madrid last year, we were utterly diabolical against real Betis at Goodison and it didn't effect us so it's difficult to judge a pre season under Roberto at the mo.
The thing is we were very poor against betis. Point taken. But we faced quality opposition on the American tour - real, juve and Valencia and showed real promise with our performances. This pre-season we have played no one of note and played poorly in each game. I am right to be worried not just about our results, but more concerning is our performances.

Your spot on mate

Its a known fact that if you play poorly in pre season you are defo going to be crap going into the PL games

I certainly won't.

Me neither, we play a relegation fighting team and have two home games.

I expect 6 points, 7 would be good but 5 or less would be below par.
That's on the basis of this pre season- we are clearly not 100% yet- RM is preparing us for a season in which if we do just ok, we will play the best part of 50 games. If we go all guns blazing now, we will be finished in march. He is trying to get the balance. No guarantee this is the right way but the strategy is clear.

Hi guys...can't be bothered to read through a load of knee jerking rubbish that I'm sure was posted.

Can someone tell me what the score was and how the game went...in the form of a haiku?

Cheers.

you're not wrong, kidda.

How many pints do those things hold. Serious question. 3?

No wonder the average german woman is like a shot putter. Serious work out getting bladdered lifting those

i thought you said 3 wins, why would you be happy, either no wins or two defeats and you'd be happy, we won both the fixtures against arsenal and chelsea last season

I'm honestly not worried about the results or the fitness levels. Slogging in matches you lose probably builds stamina a lot better than cruising through easy wins. Martinez is a licensed physio remember so fitness isn't something I'm thinking about.

The only concern for me is the state of the World Cup players but don't forget, everyone else in the league will be in the same boat if not worse off, especially our nearest competitors.

Of course we'd all like an ideal pre-season where we score for fun, Lukaku slots loads, Baines hits loads of free kicks etc, but if we beat Leicester who have won 6 out of 6 in a scruffy 1-0 then none of it will be a problem.

our first opponents won't
