I do rate the Yak still. Very much so.

Saha's useless at present though, and considering his shockingly high wage, I'd be happy to see him leave for nothing tomorrow.

They do not become bad players overnight. Something isn't quite right and needs tweaking. However, they may not be the future, but we need them to be the NOW!

Yakubu is finished you numbskull!!!!!!! How many games and missed opportunities is it going to take for you to relise he is shizen!....Not the out and out goalscorer he once was and what we need.

"what we need".

Ah yes, clearly what we need is a crocked Paraguayan with a strike record so poor it would make Emile Heskey beam with pride.

Yakubu was finally showing something this season, in that spell where he bossed Liverpool, and then won us the game at Stoke. And then he was dropped. He'd shown that he wasn't past it, in that spell, but seemingly something off the pitch has happened.

Beckford's shown more than Saha, however, and I'd rather give him a run in the team than an on-loan SC. I'd rather Anichebe too. Saha needs to be dropped, but we already have better options than Santa Cruz.

Not really Santa cruz was never Bayern's main striker and most of his appearences came by substitutions. Thus making his goalscoring record look less pretty. When he came to the premiership he scored goals lots of them in a side that didn't provide the most creative service. The season after he was made to stay at Blackburn and he wasn't happy. As a loan signing, providing he can stay fit I can see him scoring goals, especially the way Baines is delivering the ball at the minute. Other than Robbie Keane name someone who is available who has a proven record at premiership level?

Yakubu has had his chance to prove himself over 10 months. The fact is he could't hit a barn door and is lazy. 1 goal in 15 games or whatever is sh*t even by Beatties standards he is woeful. In Saha I think there is still a goalscorer but not more than 7 a season. Yakubu will get you around 4 a season at this level.

I've no doubt if he'd not been injured so much, SC would have been a far better player mate. He's no doubt been unlucky.

But if we're getting someone in on loan, to try and solve our striking woes, we need someone who can hit the ground running. All signs say to me, he is not that person. Robbie Keane would be a far, far better bet. But even then, I personally think the problem is a lack of pace and the predictability of our build up. Only world class strikers can find a way to score when the opposition's managed to get everyone back behind the ball. Which everyone manages to do against us.

I said it before and I'll say it again... when we had that amazing spell last year, we didn't have a top class striker banging them in. We had the Yak and Saha, who both scored very little then. The difference? Landon Donovan; PACE. If we can get someone in this window to play on the right, and offer us something different, I'd be more than happy to see Beckford, Yak and/or Anichebe up front for us.

And I'm sorry, but dismissing the Yak is unfair. He was taking forever too show some form, that's true, but when he finally did he was dropped. We haven't won since.

Form as in what? Hes a goalscorer and has scored once, he's finished

Nope not by my logic. My logic is get him in on loan give him a shot because Yakubu isn't up to it in this side, as he's proven. He can't hit a barn door no matter how many times player put him in!

That describes Saha, and the Yak from the back end of last season.

For the last time, the Yak was looking very good in October. And then he was dropped. You seem to be ignoring the fact that he won us the Stoke game, and was generally playing very well around then. Not to mention unlike SC, Saha and so on, he fits the 4-5-1 perfectly as he likes to bring others into the game just as much as he likes to score.

I'm done arguing over the Yak though. I think you're wrong -- badly wrong -- but it's your right to have that opinion.

Like your entitled to yours. I think your very wrong about Yakubu. Over the past 18 months I've seen nothing from him except he's lost a yard of pace and his finishing has become comical. Whether he scored against Stoke or not is void...because he has done feckall else. At the end of the season if you can come to me and say....."Look he got us 10 goals after Christmas il shake your hand and concede. I won't count on it though because as I have said he is finished at our club. No doubt he'll go elsewhere have one good season then become a recluse again, BECAUSE HE IS LAZY!
