We were paying Koeman 6M a year. We should have no problem attracting good managerial candidates.

It's not just about how much you can pay them though.

Most high calibre managers would look at us and think it'll be very hard to break in to the top 6 even with a decent amount of money.

In that respect it may be damaging to their reputation if they come here and don't break in to it.

It's really hard for us to attract the best players and the only way we can do that is to pay 'more' than the elite teams. We don't have the resources to do that, despite some fans seeming to think we're the new City, which we're not. When they were bought out they started paying more in wages than other elite teams to attract players.

It doesn't help that many of our fans seem to ''expect' any manager we have to get us in the top 6 within less than 2 years despite having been massively outspent by the elite teams for decades and being a less attractive option for players.

We need a talented manager and the board to back him but most of all we need the fans to be patient with whoever is in charge as we're fighting against the odds to break in to the top 6. Doesn't mean we can't do it but it's going to be a tough ask for any manager we have no matter how talented.

Top level managers will want top level clubs. And vice versa.

Hence we're shopping at Asda.

Painful, but true. We've not got the budget, the recent pedigree, or a convincing plan / vision. Why would a genuine prospect come here?

Hence the questionable up and coming (Moyes, Martinez) and opportunist's taking the big bucks (Koeman, Allardyce).

Was always going to be a Stu barlow..in fairness i gave him a few chances..he had a few chances...discussion over...lesson learnt never go near a "football player" once a buy back clause is in the contract...in fact scrap that..efc never learn..goodnight

Good thing there are more than a handful of good managers around.
