A lot of people consistently overlook the fact that...Nobody Wanted the Job. Blanc,Tuchel preferred to walk the dog.Villas Boas preferred to risk his life rallying.Silva to wait for the sack and pay off. Please tell me who else was available.
I don’t think this is necessarily true. The last semi public comment from Tuchel was that he was ‘open’ to the idea. Fonseca was publicly angling for the job before Koeman was sacked, and if reports are correct it was only the reluctance of his Russian employers to release him that prevented his appointment. Dyche spent the period assiduously avoiding any comment that would rule him out. Silva we know about. Even Simeone (I know, don’t laugh) didn’t dismiss the suggestion entirely when it was put to him.
For me the idea that FatSam and his disreputable crew were the only people in the entire footballing world willing to take us on is laughable myth making.

Sorry to butt in, I think that you have just made the worst excuse in the book when it comes to football, can't find a manager, can't find a left back...what in the whole of world football, with your extensive scouting networks you can't find anyone who wants to be one of the best paid managers in the world??? I don't buy it.

My opinion is boardrooms are weak, boardrooms go with who they believe to be the safest hands for the job. When it boils down to it, nobody knows how a manager will perform until they are in the hot seat, seems to be less about managers managing as it is not upsetting our beloved primadonnas. A manager must have 'x' reputation before 'y' will perform for him.

Sorry ranting a bit now.
So then you name a manager we could have realistically appointed.Bearing in mind that those in jobs with clubs still in the CL.would have been certifiable to leave to come here.Managers aren't mugs, most if they've had a few jobs (and with that a few pay-offs after being sacked) are worth multi millions. So whatever wages being talked about to manage us aren't really that relevant. So do you stay with a successful side or take on an unbalanced squad in turmoil? As I said in my earlier post there were at least two who are unemployed who had no interest.

It's not my job to identify managers worldwide, we have a scouting network for that but i know 6 million reasons why nobody would turn their noses up.

All the managers you mentioned were connected only by media reports.Simeone did give me a laugh,if he'd left Madrid to come here he should have visited Broadmoor first.Silva...well we really dodged a bullet there.Dyche is just a younger Allardyce. As I said earlier AVB,Blanc,Tuchel could easily applied (I think you can still do that). The fact that three rated managers showed no interest obviously sent a message to the wider managerial community.Don't get me wrong Allardyce would have been well down on any wishlist I'd made, but the truth is we aren't seen as a step up,just a decent payday.

You can identify as many as you want, but getting them to sign on the dotted line is the trick. You just seem to want to stay in denial.Managers who had been at far better clubs than us were not in the least bit interested.Even 6 million couldn't get them to get out of bed early.A manager who relegated Hull and was on his way to doing the same to Watford would not resign to join us...

Media reports are all we ever have to go on , unless we become privy to boardroom deliberations.
Tuchel was quoted at the time to being open to the idea, so he must have had some interest. Beyond that we have no idea if he was officially approached. During our previous managerial search we approached Favre and left him hanging until he took the Nice job, so who we approached , and dismissed we will never fully know.
However , I still find your suggestion that no decent manager in the entire world would have taken our extremely well payed job utterly risible.
Using your criteria , since managerial change usually occurs as a result of poor performance, their would be a host of permanently managerless clubs around the world.
In my opinion it is a poor appointment driven by an equally poor DoF.

I think you're being extraordiarily kind to both Allardyce and Walsh with that assessment mate.

Did we approach him or was that again media driven.Taking your point on managerless clubs.Teams get the manager they can at the level they are.Where we are now very sad to say Alardyce is our level, hopefully in the near future that will change, but I'm not holding my breath.Anyway thats something for another thread and has been done to death.
