Was so sure this lad was going to be good as well, or at the least not really bad like he has been.
If he wasn't on 120k or so week we'd be able to move him on easily, probably even for a profit. Walsh though handing him that unbelievable contract, he easily set the club back 5 seasons. Had Brands come in when Moshiri first did we'd probably have reached the Champions League by now, definitely be regulars in the Europa at least.
Makes you want to chuck.
Yes but whilst we were wasting money and driving towards relegation the top 6 was a strong as ever. Guardiola, Conte, Klopp, Mourinho, Wenger, Pochettino. 5 of the 6 with their best ever premier league managers and Chelsea with a manager who masterminded winning the title over the rest of them! Even with Brands in situ we would have had no chance of cracking that.
The situation is different now though. We could be looking at Solskjaer and Lampard in charge (one with a transfer ban) whilst Emery is under tight budget restrictions at Arsenal and hasn’t moved them forward yet. They’ve also lost Ramsey and Ozil seems completely demotivated. Pochettino Guardiola and Klopp are all nearer the exit than they were when we appointed Koeman.
Obviously we’d be in a far better position having not wasted all that money and being further on the curve. But out of that mistake we may yetnuave an opportunity of having the right DOF and the right manager with the right players together early enough to take advantage of the top 6 before bigger teams dismantle the set up.
