Sandhills station

If Murder Inc were in a stadium at that dock there'd be no transportation issues.

We all instinctively know this.

Never mind an 'evolving' system over time. There'd be another station in Vauxhall now open and there'd be a light transportation system bringing supporters all but to the stadium entrance.
They'd
Re-introcuce 'specials' (trains just for football fans) on match days, which they had in the 1970s. There were hundreds (maybe a thousand or more?) on each train. They could depart and return from/to nominated busiest or most popular outlying stations (no more than 2 trains to each station) at staggered times with arrival at/departure from Sandhills also staggered. Sandhills is then not congested when they arrive and there's no need to go to Sandhills until your train is due to leave.

We used to get special football buses to Goodison in the 1970+ from Old Swan following the 68 route and taking pressure off the regular service. They were parked up outside the Old Tech so just round the corner for connection buses to Huyton-Prescot-Downtown. It worked well.

Times have moved on of course....though maybe not with the joined up thinking that was present in The Corpy then. They could do similar services now to alight at Scotty/Stanley Rd and walk down to BMD via say Boundary St. This Sandhills Station set up shouldve been well prioritised.

Rotheram needs to get a grip on this as its very much a serious public safety issue. Games are called off because of snowy pavements now...we dont want BMD games being postponed for transport reasons that should have been envisaged.

There's a couple of reasons this might not be such a hot idea. A lot of the firm violence was conducted around the rail networks, and the public has probably remembered it. We wouldn't want the shadow of those times spoiling the regeneration of the dock area.

There's a triple space in this. Is it an option re replying via handheld device? (two double spaces also).

Away fans will have to factor into transport, unless they are embargoed from local rail, and are only bussed in and have away parking zones special for them.

That'll go down a treat, away parking laid on, and nothing for us.

The trains would be on the local network. No national ‘firm’ involvement. Local trains for local people… just trains ‘reserved’ for fans going to the match.

Away fans? They can do as they do now and look after themselves.

I know everyone means well pointing out different train stations and bus stations but there's some dangerous roads to cross from those places. This council needs to sit and sort it out, along with the club and supporters.
What exactly have Everton said about it because I haven't seen anything, unless I've missed it.
Failing that they need police on these crossing points into town to get people across safely,
Those traffic lights by Costco will be a nightmare for pedestrians, especially large crowds.
The strand too, crossing over to get to James street.
I know numbers of people cross these roads anyway but not in the numbers there will be on match days, especially after the match when everyone will be leaving at once.
Imagine having kids with you or your old Grandad and trying to get across.
I love the stadium and to be honest I've never given transport a 2nd thought as I will get picked up quite close, but it definitely should have been a priority.

You're crossing a busy dual carriageway to get to Sandhills as well.

I was in London last yearmust have been start of season or a pre season game or summat and Spuds were on a boat going up the river to, I assume, Fulham, it sounded like they were having a top fun time with the singing they were doing. I'd happily park on the wirral and take boat over to BMD
There's a video of Everton fans doing that exact same thing haha.

What happens at Arsenal and Spurs ..they’re need stations, how do they manage it?

Arsenal have got the best transport links in the country. There's 6 or 7 stations (tube and/or national rail) within a mile of the ground, serving different lines and routes.

Within about 2 miles of the ground there's loads more including Kings Cross, St Pancras International and Euston. Also dedicated bus routes.

Spurs isn't as good, but they have White Hart Lane station and Northumberland Park close to the ground which both had to be heavily revamped for the new stadium (Sandhills wasn't). There's also other tube and overground stations within a mile of the ground. At Stratford/Stratford international for West Ham you have Crossrail, HS2, multiple tube lines, Elizabeth Line, national rail and can disperse crowds a lot quicker.

London is a world away from here when it comes to public transport. Add to the fact that capacity of the tube is far higher than Merseyrail. The reality is you need cars.
