Oh yeah, and Fishermans Wharf and China town.

I remember looking out the hotel to hundreds of people doing yoga on their roofs...

This mate, have a meal in ChinaTown its far better then New York. Fishermans warf is ace for Chilling.

Theres some cool places to hang out in the Castro (used to be a gay hotspot, but far more mainstram these days), Haight/Ashbury worth a look.

You could get the bart out to Berkley as well.

There is an ace hike up a small mountain just out side the city - cant remeber the name now.

Rent bikes and ride out from fishermans warf - to the Goldan Gate and go cross.

Alcatraz.

If your there for a while, you could shoot out to Vegas for a couple of Days. Trips are run to and from in the City. Weekend is enough.

If your looking for a cheap hostel, try the green toiroise - free keg parties, beer pong, free internet, guys that run it were about in the 60s and are shall we say tolerant. Walking distance from the City & Fishermans Warf, couple of streets from China town.

Until he hits 21 he shouldnt bother with Vegas. You got to be 21 to hit the gambling floor and they enforce it like zealots.

From this day on, anybody going to SF must wear a Dunc t-shirt or similar when on Alcatraz and post pic on here. It's now law :)

Pay the fare for the Grey Line local tour - gets you around to all the touristy spots in the most efficient manner.

Deffo yes on the walking around North Beach - good places to eat, esp. Italian. There used to be an excellent spot right across the street from City Lights. Get yourself some of the local dried Italian sausages - yummmm... Don't eat at Fisherman's Wharf, tho - all tourist traps and the food is not so special in a great food town.

If it's a Saturday morning, go to the Embarcadero and check out the Farmers Market - amazing stuff available from local/area farms. Go to Golden Gate park, check out the Japanese gardens and walk down the Haight from there for a taste of where the summer of love took place - still well-populated with burnouts and counter-culture types. One morning, our Eastern time zone clocks had us walking around Nob Hill at sunrise - lots of folks in front of the big church doing their tai chi. Great city, but horrible politics. :)

BTW, never call it "Frisco" around a local. Enjoy.

Yesterday I bought a pair of Levi's for $25 and saw this...

Today we're cycling that bridge thing.

My second favorite city in the country after Chicago (and that's mostly due to hometown pride). If I ever get a job offer in San Francisco, I'll accept before they've finished the sentence. Incredibly expensive to live there, though.
