It would surprise me because I think it's been made perfectly clear, even from the mouth of Moshiri, that he decided on Allardyce and will decide on Managers going forward - not Kenwright.

Could he do worse? Possibly, I think he proved as much with his spell earlier this season but it would be easier to swallow - for me at least anyway.
