In fact, I’d go so far as to say that if your username had been ‘everton 1954’, I’d have said: welcome, sam, to the forum.

You make a fair point, sam, erm everton1953, but please understand that most of the poking of fun here is tongue in cheek and I’m sure there is no real intent to hurt his feelings.

I'm quite sure when Sam checks his bank balance it more than makes up for any personal insults coming his way. He ain't no snowflake.

On a sadder note. It's unbelievable our great club has been barren for so long. And people are culpable. Not the supporters by the way. Vast majority of Evertonians in my experience are knowledgeable and fair. It's negligence and a chronic lack of investment and vision that has cost us.

But I'm going to take a pragmatic approach and suggest we are going through a period of transition. And then have another Gin. And another. Then watch a couple of games on You-Tube. And remember what a team with power, commitment, intensity and flair looks like.

That Everton side in the 80's were a force of nature and in my opinion paved the way for modern football and I'm just glad I was there. I hope when Sam is chatting to his Evertonian mates they play him a few of those matches.

Sam Allardyce blasts 'utter rubbish' accusation Everton are playing boring football

Sam Allardyce has branded it “utter rubbish” that his Everton side are producing boring football.

The Blues boss insists he has overseen the squad playing “proper football” since he replaced Ronald Koeman at the end of November.
Allardyce says heavy defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal were “unacceptable” performances but has strongly railed against the notion Everton are not serving up crowd-pleasing displays.
He maintains his long-term Goodison future will be determined by results and performances, and when asked if the final 11 games of the season gives him a chance to disprove his reputation as a pragmatic manager, he told the ECHO: “That’s utter rubbish, isn’t it?
“The type of football we’ve produced isn’t rubbish, we’ve produced proper football in terms of what we’ve tried to achieve.

“The past reputation is not the reality if you ask the players, so you look at the football we’ve played since I’ve been here.”

Everton have picked up 19 points under Allardyce, winning five of their 13 league games while scoring 15 goals.
Defeats to Bournemouth, Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal have seen the Blues ship 13 goals with Allardyce adding: “Some has not been so good because of the result, certainly the Tottenham and Arsenal ones were unacceptable, but the football we try and play suits the players we have here, suits the system we have which is part of their job and I’ve never played the same way at any football club I’ve ever been at.

“Unfortunately, you have to live with the past sometimes, you can’t get rid of it. If people have blinkers on, I can’t take them off.”

His comments in the presser this morning suggests that he's settled on his team for the rest of the season. The likes of Tosun, Klaassen, Vlasic etc. are going to have to just wait for their chance, suggesting that injuries to other players might possibly be the only in for them now. Sounds like he's also conceded that Morgan will need to do the same (he didn't travel to Dubai because of 'family issues' apparently).

Not watched it but hoping this means young Davies gets more game time, which is a good thing.
